Sheryl Mae Dawn Nicol (nee: Hill) – April 9, 1946 – June 12, 2024. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, mother-in-law, nana, wife, sister, aunt and friend, Sheryl. Sheryl battled with dementia for many years, and is now resting at peace with her first love and partner, Bill Nicol, her sister Vicki Hotte (Paul), brother Ron Hill, and many friends and family who predeceased her. Sheryl will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband, Fred Tufnell; her children Rob (Mary), Arran (Jody), and Adam (Tanya); her step-children, Adrianne, Candace and Michael (Nicole) Tufnell; her grandchildren whom she adored with all of her heart, Will, Kate, Callum, Campbell, Harper, Logan, Sophie and Quentin; and her dear siblings Ira (Deb), and Andria (Ron).
Sheryl loved her family fiercely; she was proud of her sons and all of their accomplishments, and loved her grandchildren beyond measure. Sheryl’s eyes and heart would shine brightly when her grandchildren were in her presence, as she sang, danced and played with them until they were all laughing and smiling with pure joy. Growing up, Sheryl was known for her accomplishments as a dancer, a passion she continued well into her senior years in life. She was also an avid baker, sharing her treats and Christmas trays with many friends and families over the years.
The family is grateful for all of your love and support today, tomorrow and for all of the years passed. Her spirit lives on within her beautiful grandchildren who she adored with every ounce of her soul, and her sons who will continue to share their loving memories of the incredible woman she was. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Personal Support Workers and staff at West Oak Village (LTC facility), especially those in the Harbour House, whose unwavering dedication and compassion to Sheryl day in, and day out, was akin to that which only a family could provide.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Order of Saint Lazarus Canada – Palliative Care, PO Box 187, Schomberg L0G 1T0 (www.saintlazarus.ca/donate)

Fred and family;
This is a lovely tribute to Sheryl; however, the efforts to provide support and love to a person who, for many years, was slowly drawing away from you through no fault of her own. Your dedication to supporting a struggling person’s life is marvellous, and your support was much felt, though, at times, not reciprocated, I am sure. All of the family are to be commended for their support, and I hope they are comforted that Sheryl is now at rest.

Sheryl’s beauty and kind soul was only surpassed by her generous heart. Our many travels and get-togethers were always filled with laughter and stories, and a raunchy story or two. We will hold all those memories dear and hope that all her boys and family will also share the stories of her that they enjoy the most.
Our hearts go out to you all.

I never had the pleasure of meeting your mom Rob, but I’m certain that you are a reflection of your parents in many ways. You truly have a unique and wonderful demeanor in dealing with co-workers and those that we are forced to deal with.
Thinking of you and your family.
