Passed away at Brampton Civic Hospital, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, Bert Post, of Caledon, in his 79th year, beloved husband of Beryl. Loving father of Douglas Post and Andrew Post (wife Christine). Cherished grandfather of Danielle, Deryk, Frances, Hannah and Sophia, all from Caledon and area. Also survived by step-daughters Michele Griesser and her daughters Ashley and Isabella of Oxford, Michigan and Tiffany Bateman of Toronto. Survived by his brothers and sisters Robert, James (June) of Brampton, John (Sarah) of Bracebridge, Eleanor (Ivan) Cowan, Evelyn (Victor) Stoddart of Brampton and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Frances Speers Post (1997), daughter-in-law Debbie Taylor Post (2003), brothers Edgar (Norma), Philip, and William (Agnes). Bert was the youngest of the family of Charles and Amy Clark Post of Brampton. He was the founder and chairman of Woodhall Park Care facilities in Brampton. He enjoyed a lifetime association and employment in the health care service. For many years he was the C.E.O. of Peel Memorial Hospital. He was past president of the Ontario Hospital Association, Region 5; past president of the Ontario Residential Care Association; past president of the Rotary Club of Brampton where he was awarded 2 Paul Harris Fellowships for exemplary service in Rotary; past Rector’s Warden of Christ Church (Anglican), Brampton; a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 302 in Gravenhurst. Bert was an avid downhill skier, having skied many of the major resorts in North America and Europe, as well as being an accomplished carpenter, boat builder and mariner.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home Baxter & Giles Chapel, 273 Broadway, Orangeville (519-941-2630) on Wednesday afternoon 2 – 4 and evening 7 – 9 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, October 11 at 2 o’clock. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
