Allan, you were a wonderful brother-in-law. I could always talk to you and laugh with you. You really put up with Jean’s little sister all these years. I will miss you. Your boys have treated me so well and I love them dearly. Rest in peace.

I, and my colleagues at Canadian Friends Service Committee, were deeply saddened and surprised to hear of Allan’s passing this week. Allan was generous with his time with several Friends’ causes and this included Service Committee. He was warm and helpful, sometimes suitably impatient with “Quaker ways”, and sincerely in support of our vision of a world transformed (though also at the ready to give us “reality checks” which were actually really helpful).
I am very sorry to hear of his passing and warmly remember our times together and am deeply thankful for the his openness, frankness, humour, and generous spirit. Our sincere condolences to all in the family at this sad time.
in Friendship,
Jane Orion Smith
