On Saturday July 14, 2012, in Bethell Hospice, Inglewood, Angelika Gabriele Schmidt passed after a very short but courageous and strong battle with cancer. Angelika has joined her mother Erni Albrecht and grandmother Emma Stein in that great knitting circle in the sky. Happy to look down on her children Geoffrey B. Eyre and Emma-Jane K Wilson. Blessed to have a wonderful son-in-law Barry E. Wilson. Sadly missed by her three grandsons Bradley, Keaton and Trevor. There was never a dull moment when family got together, especially the grandsons playing Lego right along with the grown ups. Picnics in Bay Front Park, corn on the cob at the mustard festival and great fun and music at the Festival of Friends at Gage Park in Hamilton. Angelika’s love for music was always in her life and in her friendship with Colin (Bucky) Buchanan and his family over the last 10 years. A very special thank you to Angelika’s good friend Johanne and daughter Emma for giving her so much courage, kindness, love and understanding which made this so much easier for her. Thank you to Dr. Boyle, Dr. Amer and the specialist teams at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. Bethell Hospice was the perfect end to Angelika’s journey with Dr. Gagnon and the wonderful staff and volunteers. Now the rest of her journey can begin with peace in her heart, love in her soul and an understanding that everything happens for a reason.
“Don’t think of me as gone away, my journey has just begun.”
To all who have touched my life with so much love and kindness,
thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love and peace always Angelika.

Angela and Bucky were always a happy and loving presence at our house for various gatherings. She was always so thoughtful and had many stories to share. A life well lived. She leaves a giant space. We will miss her.

I worked closely with Angela when she worked with the Ministry of Health, and unfortunately came across the information of her death just today. She was an amazing woman with a wonderful spirit and great attitude. She spoke often and kindly about the love that Geoffrey, Emma and Barry and her “boys” showed her, as well as how lucky she was to have Bucky in her life. I am so sorry for your loss.
