September 21, 1934 – March 29, 2024
Anna Sheardown (nee Burton), passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Brampton Civic Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. She grew up on the family farm near Castlemore. Upon attaining a secretarial degree from Brampton High School, she worked for a time with A.V. Roe Canada in Malton before raising her growing family of five children. Anna was a devoted mother in a busy household. She generously assisted the Bolton Figure Skating Club and Bolton District Minor Hockey Associating, among many other local organizations. Later in life, she lovingly worked for 25 years tending to the gardens of the Caledon Seniors Centre. Anna took great pride in how the blooming gardens welcomed visitors to the Centre. She took a keen interest in genealogy and local history, and received recognition for her many years of service as an avid volunteer and historian. Anna enjoyed travelling with her family and friends. She treasured her memories and photographs from around the world, including the Caribbean, Japan, China, Sweden, Paris, London, Walt Disney World and many other locations in the USA and Canada. Loving mother of Vicki, Karen Mulder (Marcel), Keith (Lisa), and Mark (Michelle). Grandmother of Dana, Blake, Nicholas, Alec, Nate, Nolan, Kate and Amy. Great-grandmother of Calcifer and Emma. Predeceased by Donald Sheardown and son Wayne Sheardown, sister Lenore Burton, brother Bill Burton and her parents Orville Imrie and Martha Susannah Burton (nee King). Many thanks to the medical staff at the Brampton Civic Hospital and Southbrook Retirement Residence, for the exceptional care they provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Caledon Seniors Centre, 7 Rotarian Way, Bolton on Sunday, April 28 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy are encouraged to consider donating to the Caledon Seniors Centre, Bolton (www.caledonseniors.ca).

Great Aunt Anna was always so loving and kind to myself and my boys . She always remembered my birthday; and my kids birthdays . We were lucky to have visited her a few times at the hospital and spoke on the phone when she was in the retirement residence . She will be forever missed by us and my father ; who was the ring bearer at her wedding to Uncle Donny . Thoughts are with the whole family at this time. Forever missed but always will remain in our hearts . Amanda Boisvenue (Jones ) along with Drew, Connor and Mason.

To the Sheardown family, fate had me opening this page today looking for something. When I saw the picture, I recognized the face, but didn’t know why until I saw the name.. I only met your mother once or twice and it was back in college days with Karen. Many years have passed since I’ve seen both Karen and Vicki but I do remember being warmly welcomed to your family dinner table one evening. We never imagine a time in our life without our parents and I’m so sorry that you’re going through this now.. condolences to the whole family. May your dear mother rest in peace.

So sorry to read of the passing of Anna. Anna was a late-in-life friend who shared an interest of local history with myself and many others from the Bolton area. I always enjoyed chatting with Anna at our monthly Tim Horton’s get together. I would leave with many new and interesting facts. Anna had binders full pictures and newspaper articles which were loved and neatly displayed and preserved under plastic covers. Her intense interest in local history was addictive. I would like thank her for her many hours spent in dedication to our town. Wishing to send condolences to her family. Anna will never be forgotten. Christina Leavens Graham and Ken Graham

My condolences to Anna’s family, she was such a warm and lovely woman. It was always a treat running into her in town and catching up.
Ebenezer Toronto Gore Historical Foundation
Anna’s absences will be keenly felt by the members of Ebenezer, Toronto Gore Historical Foundation. With her attention to detail, interest in local history, and diligent work, Anna amassed and organized an amazing amount of historical material. “It is a rolling snowball,” was her frequent comment.
Anna worked tirelessly. In addition to her work as Historical Librarian, she was also a meticulous and gifted gardener who established and, for many years, maintained beautiful flowerbeds on the grounds at Ebenezer Chapel at 8999 The Gore Road. Members of E,TGHF counted themselves among the wide circle of relatives and friends with whom she maintained close contact.
The work Anna accomplished on behalf of E,TGHF will always be appreciated.

We are so sad to hear of our dear friend Anna’s passing. Condolences to Vicki,Mark & the family. She was a historian and gathered a wealth of information over the years regarding Peel & Toronto Gore areas. Much was donated to the Brampton archives as many findings they did not have, and accomplished and extraordinary woman. She was a great gardener and took care of the Wellness centre & Ebenezer Gardens for many years. Anna shared many cuttings and plants with us and as we walk through our garden we will always remember her fondly. Love and blessings Jennifer & Ashley
