December 22, 1929 – March 4, 2010
Art passed away peacefully after his long struggle with Alzheimer’s, in his 81st year. He leaves behind his children Sue Cartwright, Trudy Crock (Roger) and Arthur Bradley, along with four grandchildren, Graeme and Melissa Cartwright, Peter Crock and Emma Rose Chapman, great granddaughter Abigail Hoover, plus his siblings Aileen (deceased) and Dave Rose, Bruce and Marg, Judy Sturges, Don and Jane, and numerous nieces and nephews to mourn his passing. Art enjoyed an extensive and successful career selling new and used cars at Weston Motors, Little Bros., and Grant Brown Motors, eventually owning an American Motors/Rambler Dealership, which later became the used car dealership and service station “Grove Motors” in Pine Grove. Before succumbing to his illness Art lived a full, rich life along with his ex-wife Joan, enjoying many friends, fine dining, a house in Arizona and numerous trips to the “winners circle” with his Standardbred horses “No Gossip” and “Holding Pattern”. The Chapman’s beautiful family home “The Seven Gables” in Pine Grove was lovingly coined the “Halfway House” because of their open door policy and non-stop entertaining. The family wishes to thank the staff at Leisureworld, Brampton Woods, especially the 3rd floor west wing for their unconditional love and care for “Chappie” for the last 5 years. The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday afternoon, March 19th from 2 – 4 and evening 6 – 8 o’clock, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 8 o’clock. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Peel, 60 Briarwood Avenue, Mississauga L5G 3N6. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.eganfuneralhome.com
