Son, brother, husband, father, papa, uncle, gymnast, engineer, coach, sideline fan, chauffer.
There are many titles you could affix to Brant Gordon Waddell, and he thrived at them all, but his greatest title was mentor.
It is with great sorrow that we announce his unexpected, and sudden, passing on the 4th of January 2022. The loss of his extraordinary leadership and support is felt deeply by his family and the wider community. The impact he has had on the lives of others is beyond measure.
Forever remembered and loved by his cherished wife, Lesley McLure-Waddell, his treasured daughters; Allison (James), Laura (Jack), Shelby (Alistair) and his much adored grandson Charlie.
He will also remain in the hearts and minds of his older brother David (Kathy) and his many nieces and nephews: Liza, David, Oliver, Adrian, Melanie, Leander, Alysa, Carrigan, Carson, Kendra, Aino, and Paige.
He will be longingly greeted by his parents, Alec and Phyllis, and his beloved dog Quinn.
The utmost loving family man, his family and friends were not prepared to say goodbye. He had so much more to live for and was needed to help lead the next generation, a task he was much looking forward to.
Daycare helper, Ham-pa, Wizard, B-Rant – Dad.
We love you. You will be greatly missed and always remembered.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the SickKids Foundation in memoriam.

I love Brant and I am so sad that he passed away. He’s the most loving person that I could ever love. I like playing with him. We played games and I would always eat his breakfast that Lesley made. I would always go to his office in the basement to see him when he was working. I love Brant.

We are very saddened by the news. Brant will be missed by the Rusak family. He played such a large and important role in our daughters lives. We never had to worry about their care. He was so good with and to the kids, everyone loved him! Harper & Victoria will miss him very much but we will cherish the memories that we have for a lifetime.

What to say, we are still at a loss for words as we can’t believe that this is real.
I still remember sitting on the steps of Brimell Court and seeing you Lesley and Brant when you were first dating, the fun and love you both had. Fast forward to seeing Brant be an amazing and inspiring Dad to Allison, Laura and Shelby. Then my kids came along and boy did they love and have fun with him, they loved going into your basement and just being with him. Just watching a new cartoon that he told them about, playing with him or learning gymnastics and soccer tips and tricks was always amazing to see.
We are all better people having had Uncle Brant in our lives. Love you.

Dear Lesley and family
I was so shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Brant. I remember so well when we were neighbours and we travelled to Humber College together.
I’ve been praying for you and your family and would love to be in touch with you.
I’m sure you know that I lost my Peter four years ago and I can relate to your great pain and grief. Thinking of you often.

Brant was my direct manager. I was very sorry to suddenly find that he passed away. Brant was a very good person, had a very good and warm heart, and a very good engineer. He was very kind, polite, generous, and thoughtful, respect others, and took care of the team he managed. He had a great sense of humor, and I am very sorry to hear that he is not with us anymore, and at such a young age when many years of doing and being were still ahead of him. My deepest condolences to the family, his wife and three daughters. RIP Brant.
