Peter, please accept my condolences on the loss of you Dad. He was a “Captain” in every walk of life. He leaves behind admiration from everyone that was luck enough to work with him. As he said so well, when you enjoy what you do so much it is never “work”.

God speed, old friend!
TWO highlights of my Air Canada career were getting the B727 course at Boeing from Murray, and then the famous send-off for him when he moved off from the 727, and was presented with the “exploding” 727 engine and pod at the party…. Working for him as a 727 S/O instructor was a ‘treat’.
Cheers Murray,
“Fast Eddie”

Well remembered. Really enjoyed working with Murray on the 727 introduction.

How sorry we are that Murray is no longer with us. I worked with Murray as a flight Instructor for 7-8 years and he was an inspiration to us all. He and I brought short DC-9’s to Douglas and traded them in for the -32’s. He was always looked up to by everyone in his presence and was a pleasure to know and be around

A truly great ”gentleman” has slipped the surly bonds.
I have many fond memories of my association with Murray during my early days with Air Canada…most particularly during my conversion as a shiny new DC-9 First Officer in the late 60’s. It was my incredible good fortune to be ‘blocked’ with Captain Wallace for a month and he was kind enough, and patient enough, to take me under his wing and show me a great many ”finer points” that had obviously been missed in my training. His patience, understanding and professionalism taught me a great deal about the career I had embarked on, and gave me great insight into how a true ”master” carried out the job.
There’s an old adage in the industry that stated something to the effect …”A truly superior airman is one who uses his superior knowledge and judgement to avoid those situations where he may have to demonstrate his superior skills”…I do believe that adage described Captain Murray Wallace in spades.
With the passage of time I had the good fortune to come full circle….and had the opportunity to ‘Captain’ young Peter as he came along….and have many fond memories of the months we spent plying the skies together. If , by any remote chance, I passed on any wisdom to Peter, he can rest assured that it was his Dad, and a few like him, who set the high example. I would be more than proud to think that I was able to try to live up, in some small way, to the glowing example set by the late Captain Murray Wallace.
Warmest wishes and sincere condolences as this difficult time.

Sheila and I send our condolences to Murray’s family. One of the real gentlemen, and a man who could tell a tale as well as anyone. I remember being invited to Murray and Georgie’s home, together with about ten others, after the Montreal Flt Ops golf tournament. I think Georgie and Helen Quinn were woken up for the party! Georgie handled it with great aplomb!
It was my pleasure to have known him and I shall never forget him.

It is heartening to read the glowing tributes to an older brother from his friends and associates at Air Canada. Flying was Murray’s life and passion since leaving home to pursue that passion at an early age. Obviously, from the comments of his colleagues Murray was extremely successful and highly popular, both as a pilot, a mentor and a friend.
His sister, Colleen (Dolan) and I send our condolances to Murray’s wife Georgie, their children Peter and Christine and their children and the grandchildren. Murray will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

to georgie&familly Murray was responsible for saving my job in 1960, I had just got married, just out of the airforce, just bought a new car (corvair) pile of junk. I was on my way to simulater with a totally miserable check pilot when my car just quit on the 401 in the middle of a snow storm, when along came Murray pulled over, picked me up and took me to the simulator. I was 15 min late and no check pilot. I went home a little worried. Later the same day I received a call, adviseing that I was fired for missing simulator. I called murray, and he said dont worry about this Reg I will see the boss in the morning. He did and I wasent fired. I flew wth him often after that. He was a gentleman, an exellent pilot and a good friend for many years. We saw you and Murray at the reunions in florida manytimes. God bless you and M, He will be missed. Reg

When I met Cpt Wallace after joining Crew Sked in 1965, Bob in 1967, he was always treated with repect as the gentleman he was and being that gentleman he returned that respect and was always able to see both sides of the picture. They were indeed “nicer” times.
Our sincerest condolences to the Wallace family.

Condolences to the family. I was a Training Scheduler and had many dealings with Murray. He was a class act. I remember well the parties he and Georgie had when they lived in Hudson. Who will ever forget those “Spring Flings”?
RAY BICKNELL, TCA/AC RETIRED PILOT
My first recall of Murray was as he tooled around Dorval with
Georgie in his fire truck RED sporting vehicle,an MG I think. They
lived in the Dorval GARDEN apts .We saw quite a bit of Murray
over the years and a final bonus for me was to find out that he
lost the toss at training school and won me as his last student!!
he bravely soldiered through this event and even took me as far as Paris for a final ck out flight.I shall miss most, the fact ,he ‘s not with us any more, but, when he comes to mind the smile I sport is for him!!
