It is with such sadness that our family announces the sudden death of Dr. Christopher Stephen Cameron, as a result of a single motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. The coroner ruled the cause as fatigue. Chris is loved by his sons, Gregory, Geoffrey and Christopher Cameron, his wife, Jane Ohland Cameron, brother Michael, sister Michele, mother Petie McAulay, stepfather Neil McAulay, sister and brother-in-law Kristin and Ken Riis and mother-in-law Lois Ohland. He was so loved by his father Kenneth Cameron and sister-in-law Karen Ohland, both deceased. Chris, a family physician by profession, found his calling when working as a volunteer with the Innu in Davis Inlet, Labrador. Chris held a deep respect for all individuals and a wealth of compassion for his patients. Chris loved reading, writing, poetry, art, camping, gardening, history, comparative religions, science, philosophy, yoga, spirituality, hearty discussions and storytelling. Chris especially loved being a father, always encouraging his three sons to recognize fire in the belly and to pursue their passions. Chris embraced life with warmth and laughter and was famous for that hug! Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, July 25 at 5:30 o’clock at the Best Western, Orangeville. For information and to send a condolence: c.cameron@sympatico.ca

Jane, Greg, Geoff and Christopher,
I spoke with you a few hours ago Jane and I can’t get you and your wonderful 3 sons off my mind. There is a hole in my heart and I can’t understand why this would happen to such a man with such a purpose. He is loved so deeply by everyone he touched particularly me and I know that he loved me too, however, you are the four that he loved the most.
Please know that you are not alone. There is absolutely nothing that I wouldn’t do for you.
I hope you can feel my hug. Love cousin Carolyn and Ross

Dear Jane, Greg, Geoff and Christopher,
Words cannot begin to express the profound sadness, devastation, that we felt on hearing of Chris’s accident. Nor do I have words that can bring much solace in the raw aftermath of such untimely news.
But we have to do or say something to let you know we have you in our hearts and prayers. We are also thinking of Michelle, Michael, Aunt Petie and Neil.
.Everyone in the Cameron clan looked up to Chris. He had that demeanour, that presence and much more. Such a caring man, such a good listener complemented by so much sensitivity and compassion and that is why we also loved him dearly as we do all of you. Chris, God bless him, was a pillar in our family and his passing will leave a huge void in all our hearts. Much Love, Ron and Hildy.

Jane our hearts go out to you and the boys in this most difficult time; along with Aunt Pete, Neil, Michele and Mike.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you!
RIP Chris!

I am very saddened to hear of Dr. Cameron’s sudden passing. How tragic for your family and for the community. He was my doctor many years ago and delivered my first child who is now 26.
I have thought of him often through the years and will continue to do so.
In thoughts and prayers.

There are no words adequate to describe the feeling of loss with Chris’s passing. Chris very obviously adored Jane and his sons, Greg, Geoff and Christopher, as they obviously adored him. My heart goes out to his lovely Jane, his beloved sons, to Michael and Michelle, to Petie and Neil. Chris deeply touched us all with his warmth, love, compassion, and sense of humour. His smile would light up a room, and when you spoke with Chris, you knew he was sincerely listening and was interested. He made everyone feel special, for he was a very special man.
As a part of Chris’s extended family, I know we will all feel a void. He touched so many in so many ways. We will try to fill some of that void with the warm and precious memories of Chris….memories we cherish and will never lose.
God bless.
Love,
Linda

I am very shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Cameron’s passing. He was a wonderful caring man, doctor and friend. I worked with him many night shifts in the Emergency Department at Brampton Hospital and considered him a friend. The love he has for his wife and his 3 boys was always evident when he spoke of them. We used to teasingly call him Fred with his Three Sons! Godspeed Chris, RIP.

Dear Jane, Gregg, Geoff, and Christopher,
Please accept our “Deepest Sympathy” on your sudden loss of Chris. It was only about a week ago Jack spent time with Chris and he spoke about how happy and proud he was of all your endeavours.
We will miss you Chris all your wonderful ways, your smile and your laugh at your own quick quips. Your spirit lives on.

Words really cannot express the shock and sadness felt when informed of Chris’ untimely passing. As I am writing this through very misty eyes, I think of one of the most caring and compassionate men I have ever known in my life. He loved talking about Jane and his boys, and was always there for any of us that needed help, a kind word, or advise. I know he will have his own special place in Heaven because they didn’t come any better then Chris Cameron. He will be forever loved and never, ever forgotten! Rest In Peace my cousin and my friend, and I just can’t imagine the next Family Reunion without that increible “hug”.
Much Love,
Rick

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Dr. Cameron. He was my doctor for many years but more so I was proud to call him my friend!! He always had time to talk a little golf, politics and life in general each and every time I had an appointment with him. It was that kind of caring and compassion that he had for his patients that made him a truly remarkable physician and friend. Dr. Cameron and his family will stay in my prayers as you try to cope through this difficult time. I hope you can all find solace and comfort in the fact that he was a kind and compassionate man and a well respected person in the community. Rest in peace Dr. Cameron.

I was in total disbelief when my mom, Karen MacDonald, called me that dreadful morning and told me what happened.
I’ve only met Dr. Cameron once, but have heard so many good things about him through my mom.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, Jane, Greg, Geoff, Christopher and extended family, friends and patients during this terrible time.
Know that Dr. Cameron will always be with you, in heart and in soul!

My deepest sympathies go Jane and the boys. Dr Cameron has been my family doctor for about 32 years when he first started his practice and I saw him up to last Wednesday. We still joked about his son marrying my daughter and the fact that he missed my wedding in November because his son was born a few days early. We used to compare notes on our kids and how proud he was of them and even how proud he was of mine. He was not just my doctor but my friend and I will miss our bantering with each other. I have always considered him a close family friend and I will miss him as such. If there is anything I can help with, please let me know. My heart is broken so I can imagine how you feel. Always remember his love for all of you and keep him in your hearts because I know you were always and forever will be his first priorty in life.
Sincerely.

Doctor Cameron, for me, was a special find.
He was non-judgemental…not a ‘Health-Nazi’…and responded to you as an individual, taking the time to make a personal contact.
Which in turn, allowed me to respond to him. Predictably, this allowed him to treat me more ably.
I will miss him considerably, for the man he was, and also the Doctor.
My condolences,
Paul Smith

Dearest Jane, Greg, Geoff, Christopher, Aunt Pete, Neil, Michael and Michelle,
It is with much love and profound sadness that I write this note.
I have said this often in Chris’ life and again in passing, Chris Cameron, (our wonderful absent minded professor) is the most gentle, kind, compassionate and altruistic man I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He will be terribly missed, a fond memory always in my heart.
If there is anything I can do for anyone of you, I’m only a phone call away—even at 3 o’clock in the morning and you just need someone to talk to.
Chris and all of you are a constant in my thoughts and prayers.
Love Denise

Dear Jane, Greg, Geoff, Christopher, Aunt Pete, Neil, Mike and Michelle,
You have not left my thoughts for a moment since I heard the devastating news and words cannot express the sorrow I feel for your loss. I will remember Chris as someone with a great sense of humour, genuine and unassuming, who was always interested in what others had to say and who was greatly respected, admired and loved by those who knew him. I am so deeply saddened that our family has lost someone who brought so much to those around him. My heart goes out to you all and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly difficult time.

My deepest reguards to the Cameron Family, DR Cameron will surley be missed, talk about compassion to his patients, that my friends was just a never ending well, his talks of encouragement, and staying stronge, and yes that famous hug always made you feel important,an worth somethin, like u really mattered, and can beat and overcome anything life throws at you, an that I will aways carry with me… Sincerely 1 of his patients….my thoughts and prayers be with you all…
Karen McDonald and Keri Porter
Dr. Cameron was the type of boss anyone would dream of having. Patience, kindness and understanding were just a few of his qualities. We will miss his sense of humour and impromptu singing in the office. His excuses for being late never ceased to make us laugh (a freak snowstorm in summer for example), and his penchant for having “delicious coffee” with something sweet made us chuckle. He was one of a kind, a true delight for all who had the honour of knowing him, and will be so sadly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Cameron’s passing. He was the most wonderful person that I know and the best doctor ever. He listened, laughed and was always there for you. I felt like he was a friend and doctor, his smile and the hug he always gave me when I left his office and the pat on my back. Always told me that I would get through my problems and he was right thanks to him he was the most wonderful man, my sympathies to the family and his staff.

Dear Cameron family,
I would like to offer my sincere condolences to all of the Cameron family for your tremendous loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
As a patient of Dr. Cameron, I will truly miss him. Years ago when he moved to Caledon from Brampton, I tried to find another doctor but couldn’t find one as compassionate and kind as he was. He was a great listener and didn’t talk down to you, unlike some doctors I have seen. I will miss his pat on the backs and his words of encouragement when I really needed them. It was well worth the extra drive to remain his patient.
Sincerely,
Grace North

I just heard the news when I called the office for an appointment, and I am still in shock. My deepest condolences to Jane and the rest of his family.
We started seeing Chris years ago when he took over from Dr Snape in Bramalea. He delivered 2 of our 3 children, and dealt with us through a steady stream of illnesses, scrapes and bumps for the last, I don’t know, 28 years I think. Even when he moved his office from just about a block away from us to Caledon, I still would go to see him. It was worth the drive. We often would spend more time talking about work and family than why I’d come to see him, but that was part of his charm, and what made him such a special doctor, and a friend. I gave him a book about hiking through the Grand Canyon, and he talked about going back there again to experience it. I was actually happy for him last summer when I called for an appointment and found out he’d taken a month off. He certainly deserved it. The next time I saw him I told him I was proud of him for having the courage to do that, and we had a good laugh.
Our thoughts are with you,
Sincerely,
David, Susan, Rebecca, Michelle & Lawrence Sargant

Wow. I didn’t even know…I was just checking the funeral home obituaries for another person.
I have been a patient for the last 10+ years. Dr. Cameron was so easy going and soft spoken – I have never met a doctor like him.
He listened compassionately when I spoke of my father suddenly passing last September 20th. He spoke of how important family is and embracing the grieving process – and taking time to meditate and think and heal.
My condolences and heart-felt prayers for his family. God bless.

Jane, Greg, Geoff & Chris,
I have waited a week to write hoping to come up with something profound to try to comfort you all at this tragic time. However, a week later, I still have no words. My message is simple and echoes so many others. We all loved Chris so much. It was easy for all to recognize what a very special human being he was. Though you’re not supposed to have them, he was a family favourite and someone we were proud to call our cousin. Thankfully, we have all of you, an exceptional family who helped Chris be the exceptional man he was, to comfort us and keep his memory close. Hopefully, we can help you do the same.
Take very good care and remember we love you all deeply.

My condolences to the Family of Dr. Christopher Cameron. My family and I, while residing in Orangeville, ON had the great pleasure of being patients of Dr. Cameron. We found him to be a worldly, compassionate, knowledge doctor who was always available for us when needed. We will miss him and you are in our prayers. God Bless!

I am only 11 years old. Dr Cameron was the best doctor . He has been my doctor ever since he moved into the feed mill center in caledon. Even in this short time , I noticed right from the beginning , he will always listen to you. Thats what I liked about him. He is also my grandfathers and stepfathers doctor as well. Between my granddad, stepfather and me we will all greatly miss him. He was the best doctor. As for Jane, Geoff, Greg and Christopher, I wish you guys all the best. Dr Cameron was a great doctor and i know he was a great father and husband. I think it was last week when I found out, i was very very surprised as for he is just a young man (old to me, but too young to die). My Grandmother told me, I was saying good night and she says ” Dr Cameron Died” . I was like ” WHAT ??!?!?”. I was soo shocked. I went to bed in sadness.
I Just wish The CAMERON family all the best in the future .. 🙂 <3

I am greatly saddened, and so sorry, to hear the recent, devastating, news of Christophers’ sudden, and tragic, death. In addition to our 25 year doctor/patient relationship, we had become friends. Our family is devastated by his tragic loss. Christopher has been the only family doctor my, now adult, children have ever had. He has taken care of them, and our whole family, through sickness, and in health, since they were born — we are crushed. Christopher was a dear, caring, extremely compassionate, and cherished, doctor and friend who will be deeply, and sorely, missed. This is heart wrenching. We hope for you the utmost comfort, and extend our sincere condolences during this extremely difficult time. Although these words will be of little comfort, I am so very sorry. We would like to be included in the notification(s) to celebrate Christophers’ life. RIP Christopher.
Mario Valvano (patient)
My deepest sympaty to the Cameron family. Dr.Cameron was a great man. He always greeted me with a hand shake and always made me feel good. My whole family will miss him.

Dr. Cameron was the ONLY family doctor I have ever had. When he moved his practice from Brampton to Caledon I made every arrangement to make sure I could travel the Caledon to continue to be under his care, even though I did not have a car. I never wanted to change family doctors, there was no one else who could ever take his place!
Dr. Cameron and I just recently spoke about what I am going to do when he decides to retire. We laughed it off because I told him he is never aloud to retire and that I would come to his home for appointments!
Dr. Cameron was the most amazing man and was ALWAYS 100% there for my daughter and myself. He came to my home one night to check in with us when he was on call when I was a young mother at the age of 17.
Dr. Cameron has been a part of my life for 32 years and will be missed tremendously and remembered forever.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family, his staff and all those in my shoes as his loyal patients.
Yvonne Colquhoun
Dr. Cameron was a family doctor that the Lord led me to so many years ago. He was and forever will be in my thoughts and my memory. God provided us for a time an angel, who has completed his course and ran the race. To the Family, his loving wife, whom I have never met but recognize from being Dr Cameron’s patient, how special she must be; and to his three children one of whom I met briefly at the office. Be sad and grief for your loss, that is your right; miss him and mourn his passing, this is also your right but be forever thankful that the Lord see it fit to give you that precious and irreplaceable gift, you were the most fortunate of all the people in Dr Cameron’s life. Thank you for allowing us that small glimpse of the prize and treasurer that was yours.
God Bless You and Everything is going be all right.
Frank and Mary Mansley
Dr Cameran has taken care of both my wife and myself for the past 10 years. When we read of his tragic passing the day before we left for vacation we could not believe that we, like you had lost such a devoted and dedicated doctor. He took such great care of us, always ready to listen, offer help and hope and never forgot to say God bless when we left. please accept our deepest condolences.
Howard Turner
Dr Cameron has been my Doctor and Friend for close to 30 years we met at the Bramalea health clinic with Dr Petrie . Dr Cameron was not only a good Doctor but a friend I can never replace and truly miss.He always liked the moose I would give him and would tell me stories about the north he loved so much. Your loss is tragic and I know that remembering him will give you the strength to pass this time in your life and continue on with life as he would wish. Remember but never forget a wonderful man Thanks for memories.
Paterson Family (Brenda)
My entire family grieves with you at this sad and very shocking time. Doctor Cameron a man trained in the science of health care but given the gift of compassion in all his endeavors. Dr Cameron has been my family doctor for 30 or more years. I can remember when he joyfully became a husband and then father how he chuckled when he said it was difficult to get out of his house in the morning with out little hand prints from little toddlers hugging his legs after morning breakfast I saw how this and many moments like this filled his life with the love and joy. I think he would have been miserable without those little hand prints. We all admired the children’s artwork and as my children are close to the same age it allowed him the ability to relate to them and advise them. My children loved Doctor Cameron. He was a very spiritual soul and he built a life that would give him a balance of giving and receiving and his family was his greatest treasure. Thank you for sharing your husband and father and his gift of healing and caring and know that many prayers and thoughts of healing and shared sadness are sent to you all.

…What a shock to hear of Dr.Cameron’s passing!!…i only just found out today when i needed to get a prescription refilled. He was a fun loving man made us laugh. He watched my daughters grow and become mother’s themselves, and one of the little guys went to see him as well. it saddens me greatly to know that he will never be there in person but his kind spirit will always be. A man with so much love for people, he will be remembered for a long time to come. My heart and condolences go out to his wife and sons, who’s artwork adorned his walls. We all miss him and would like to be included in the Celebration of Life as well.
Joe Iverson
Just out of the blue I decided to call the office. I and my family saw him as our family doctor but moved to another province in October/09. He was always calm, and centered and always was there for his patients. I am really saddened to hear about his passing. It is still so shocking. What made me feel the need to call I don’t know but if I had not I would have not ever known.
He would want everyone to celebrate his life and know that he is in a lot better place right now.
Prayers are with all his family and friends and patients.

My husband and I were deeply saddened to hear of Dr Cameron’s sudden passing. We have lost a kind, gentle and compassionate soul who could be counted on for just the right advice and words of wisdom, often combined with humour and the occasional burst of laughter – no doubt his preferred remedy.
Such a life certainly deserves to be celebrated. Our hearts go to his family.

I am deeply distraught at this dear mans passing. He has been an influential and respected figure in my life. Being a young man, I am 31 years old and I cannot believe the loss of this wonderful thoughtful caring man that I have had the beniefit of knowing. He has always taken time and care of my family, from my mother Janet to my father Suresh, my wife Stephanie and my daughter Angelica. All my thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to his family and I am deeply sorry for your loss
He will be greatly missed as the best human being I have ever had the privilege of knowing
God Bless

Jane, Geoff, Greg and Christopher;
Since the day I heard of Chris’s untimely passing I’ve been looking for the right words to express my sorrow and support to all of you. Anything I had to say just didn’t feel like enough. I can only imagine how difficult everything must be for you at this time. Chris was one of those people you were just drawn to. He always had a way of making you feel comfortable and an ability to always put a smile on your face. I remember painting his face at last years family reunion – he was such a great sport and free spirit. He will be sadly missed but always remembered – never forgotten. My heart goes out to each of you. I know these words are of little comfort, but know we are all here for you and you are in our daily thoughts.
Much love,
Krista

It has been the saddest of times since we heard about Dr. Cameron’s sudden passing. My three adult children and myself were priviledged to have his calm, compassionate care and support. I had been searching for awhile to find just such a wonderful doctor. We certainly were blessed to find the best support and care that we needed. Our family would like to offer our condolences to your family as you celebrate his life, his love and his work.

We have just been informed of Chris’ ill-timed passing and are completely numbed by this tragic news. Although the last time Chris and Jane and the boys graced us with their heart-warming company was at our Ottawa wedding, they will always be an integral part of our lives, and neither time nor geography will ever diminish the love we have for them. Chris will be missed…so deeply missed…

I wish Dr. Cameron rest at peace. He is a genuine and generous doctor. He had been our family physician since 1989 when I just came to Canada and his office located in Brampton. He moved to Caledon but we still come to ask him for his professional services. He is a very caring doctor. I would like to share the loss with his entire family. I just know this new today Oct 1, 2010 as my family informed me about his death. On behalf our family, we thank you Dr. Cameron for all the years that you have helped and looked after our healthy family.
Thank you very much for your kindness and compassion.

I just learned of the passing of Dr Cameron. It is shocking to know that he is no longer here with us. Dr Cameron has been my family doctor for over twenty years. He was the kind of doctor that took time to listen to you, he was never in a hurry. He was such a caring physician. I’m so numb, and in disbelief that he is gone. With deepest sympathy I would like to offer my condolences to his family. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace.

Chris,
you introduced me to Macadamia nuts, penthouse condos, “The Extended Lunch”, “The Super Extended Lunch”, deep and interesting conversations, and a level of health care I’ll never see again!
I was lucky to have known you for over thirty years… from our early squashing days at Ritz Towers until I had grey hair just like you!
I’m a better person for having known your gentle soul!
You were a great friend to my bother/mentor Roland and we both miss you very much!
Hard to fathom that two years without you have already passed!
