Claudio Montesano, 54, of Bolton, Ontario, Canada, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
Claudio was born on June 28, 1968 in Toronto to Saverio and Carmen Montesano. Claudio attended St. Michael’s College school in Toronto. He went on to study and become a High Rise Crane Operator at Local 793. After graduation, he landed his first job with Premform. He met his wife Zelia while both were in high school and they wed on July 28, 1990, going on to have 3 beautiful boys, Zachary, Jacob and Matthew.
Claudio was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Zachary, Jacob, Matthew, and spouse Zelia. He always tried his best to support them.
Claudio was also a passionate Instructor at Local 793. His personal hobby was cooking, searching for new recipes and he could often be found watching the cooking network. He enjoyed fixing things up around our house and investment properties.
He enjoyed travelling with his family and live theatre. Claudio was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. His permanent smile and enthusiasm were his calling card. Claudio was predeceased by his mother Carmen, his father Saverio and his father-in-law Jose Machado. He is survived by his 2 brothers Robert and Joseph.

In the fall of 2019 Claudio and I were renovating a house in Orillia . One Sunday not feeling much like work we went to breakfast and a hours long walk along the lake where we talked about everything
We came up to an antique car collection and the owner let us sit in while he took our picture
Claudio took the drivers side -I never could win that argument with him about any car
The feelings and experiences we shared that day where very special. Those feelings will have to last me all my remaining days
Claudio I will love you and miss you always

In 2020, I was welcomed into a home full of love, laughter and happiness. I was welcomed into a home where it felt like I’ve been in the family for years. I was welcomed into a home where every Sunday would be dinner at the Montesano House which would be planned the week prior. I was welcomed into a home where Claudio would always say to me “What are you sorry for” after apologizing 100 times for being in his way. Thank you for welcoming me into your home with open arms and loving me like your own, for all the beautiful dinners, the delicious soups and BBQ’s. Thank you for all the funny jokes and crazy stories you shared, they will not be forgotten. I am so unbelievably grateful and appreciate everything you’ve done for Zach and I, including being our go to condo fixer upper. Thank you for all the memories we were able to create together. Although no amount of time is enough time with you, the memories we created will always be cherished. Not a day goes by where we won’t think of you. Zach admired you and always will. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son.
Zelia, Zach, Jake and Matt, I will always be here for you.
Love you Claudio, may you rest in peace xo

Words cannot express how saddened we all are at the loss of Claudio. He was such a great person; kind, generous and giving. One of our best memories of him will be our time together in Puerto Vallarta where he was the life of the party with his quick wit, jokes, and of course, his dancing. We will always picture him in his bright orange crocs with a smile on his face. I hope his sons know how proud he was of them. During our conversation just a couple of weeks ago, he couldn’t stop raving about their accomplishments. We hope that they can take comfort and find peace in knowing how much he loved them. Zelia, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May God provide all of you with the comfort you need to deal with your pain and sorrow.

I am very saddened to just hear of your loss. I first met Claudio and Zelia when the boys played t-ball with my boys. I also taught at the school the boys attended. Claudio was obviously a caring and protective father wanting the best for his boys. I have quite often see Zelia and Claudia at Mass and wondered how the boys were doing. May God give you strength at this difficult time.
Angie Carnovale
My deepest condolences to the family. My son Alex and Matt were very close since grade school. Claudio and Zelia always opened the door to all the boys. It was the hang out which sometimes lead to sleep overs where Claudio made breakfast for them the next morning. The before grade 8 grad and grade 12 prom gatherings.
When Alex learned about Claudio’s passing he came to me in tears. May you all keep his memories close to your heart and lean on each other during this hard time.
