October 8, 1949 – October 7, 2022
Dave passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at Toronto General Hospital on Friday October, 7, 2022 at the age of 72 years, beloved husband and best friend of Donna Frantz. Proud and loving father of TK and Bo. Dear brother of Ken Frantz, Ruth and her husband Bob Peters, brother-in-law of John and his wife Val Philip, and Cheryl Philip. Cherished uncle of Peter and his wife Phanramphoei (Jibby) Frantz, Jack Philip and Vasko Philip. Dave’s motto was Love, Laughter and Music. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, he was always game for a round of golf, a good cigar, a fine bourbon, a funny story or live music. If given the chance he would be on the drums playing along. In his quiet time he and Donna would be at their house with the dogs, practicing his drive off the roof top tee box, enjoying the view of the pond and the serenity they had created together.
The family will receive their friends at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S. (Hwy. 50) Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday, October 19 from 5-8 o’clock.
Memorial service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, October 20 at one o’clock.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those that are able instead make a donation to Princess Margaret Hospital.
Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com

I have been a good friend of Dave and Donna for many years. While he was a great friend , he was an average golfer as I and others observed often. . He, like many of us, apparently enjoyed being humbled and embarrassed by the lack of ability on the links. Over the recent years he and Donna have faced extreme health issues with courage and grace. No surprise. He enjoyed his friends and family and was fortunate that Donna, his best friend, was his companion over his last journey. I will mis him. My sincere condolences to Donna, T.K. , Bo and all his many friends.

He was a great friend, golfer, prankster, skier, drummer, drink pourer, carpenter, a great story teller, just not so good on a ladder…. I miss you already buddy.

I am sorry that I won’t be able to join you for the celebration of life but knowing Dave’s feelings for his soul mate Donna, I believe that he would come back and haunt me if I abandoned our 50th anniversary that we had planned for these three days.
I would, however, like to pass on a little known fact about Dave.
Dave was a prophet!
Years ago, Dave, myself and a like cast of athletically challenged individuals known as the Monday Night Roundball crew, decided to lay waste to Bigwin Island golf course.
For those of you who have not witnessed my prowess as a golfer, let it be known that the only par I have seen was Jack Paar , host of the tonight show .
After a few holes and under the watchful eye of Pops, he, having watched me duck hook a cannonading drive into the bush, which chased a deer onto the course and, having obviously skipped out on his last two sensitivity classes, said, how can you enjoy golf playing like that?
Pops, I said, I came here on a boat, I’m with a bunch of guys I really enjoy, a young lad actually put my clubs on the cart for me, the suns shining and there’s a beer cart, I don’t care if I lose every ball in my bag.
This is the part where Dave became a prophet! Dave smiled at me and said “you know Tom, with that attitude you’ll probably see 100”.
He wasn’t off by much as I shot 104 that day and many times since.
Every time I hit a ball into the woods I’ll think of Dave, so you know Pops I’ll think of you often.
Renee Walsh

My sincerest condolences to you Donna, Bo and TK, on your greatest loss. I know the “boys” will be missing him too. It’s with sadness I took in the news, but with gladness I will be remembering Dave. He gave of himself generously and with kindness, and had unique way of taking the pressure off golfing with music and laughs. My heart is with you especially at this time.

Dave was a gentleman with great wit and kindness. I will remember him not just for finding my golf balls in the fescue nor his reverse layups which irritated me know end as I tried to defend but for his eclectic interest in the world around him. Generous, forgiving, with a great love for his family and friends. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences for Donna and Dave’s family. Dave was a natural leader who people were drawn to because he stood out in such positive ways. We started working together at Moore in the seventies and stayed friends all these years later. He will be terribly missed. I still laugh when I remember the first time he told the hunter and the bear joke. He was the best.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Frantz Family. We first met Dave and his family close to 40 years ago when son TK played Erindale Hockey with our son Eric in the Mississauga Hockey League. Dave was a great hockey parent and became our friend. Over the years, our paths have crossed a number of different times; it was always a pleasure to re-connect with David in person or by email. Cancer is a beast; it has unfairly taken away so many of our family members and friends. RIP old friend!
Brian Dymond
It was 30 plus years ago when I popped up out of the river at Credit Valley golf course and met Dave for the first time. Since then, my wife Sharon and I have been blessed in many different ways through our interaction with Dave and Donna. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Donna and the family. Treasure your memories of him. He was a good friend.

Working with both you and Dave was a treat. No matter how difficult the task at hand we always found a way to see the lighter side. I have had the privilege of being your vet and friend for many years. Caring for your dogs was always a joy and the love you and Dave had for them has been beautiful. I have loved every one of them. Dave cherished you Donna and always doted on ‘his boys’. May you use the dogs to help you heal knowing that Dave would want them to help you.
Melanie Springer
Dearest Donna ,
I was deeply saddened to receive the news of David’s untimely passing. Although most of my memories of Dave over the years were shaped through the many wonderful life events you shared with me, I knew him to be a great man and adoring husband and father. I know he left behind a legacy of memories that you and everyone who loved him will cherish forever. With love, M.

Dear Donna, TK and Bo, such sad and shocking news. Dave was always full of life and energy. From charging the basket along the baseline, cleaning his golf ball with his towel before he putt, building the bbq/smokehouse, throwing the bumper with the pups, turning up the Glorious Sons, cruising the lakes in the Checkmate, swilling Blanton’s with a Romeo, banging on his Charlie Watts or sipping a tasty vino around the table with family and friends, that’s our Frantzy. We miss him and remember him with fondness and appreciation for all the wonderful times shared together. Wishing you peace. Gayle and Brent

What a heartfelt ceremony yesterday. Dave and Donna’s support and love for each other over these years is an incredible testimony of what a real marriage is.
I am selfish, am really going to miss him. Miss his jokes, miss his comments, just miss Dave being Dave. Miss that golf game we were going to get in, that BBQ we were going to have or the fire we promised each other.
So as life unfolds we need to appreciate the time we have with our friends and family, dont take time for granted. Pick up that phone and make that call, drop in and say hi. You never know when its goodbye.
As a lot of people said over the last few weeks: “Dave was a character, one of the good ones”.
So here’s to Dave, the next time I smoke a cigar or have some”birdie juice” I will be thinking of him.
Love to Donna and the boys.
Ed and Nancy
