It is with deepest sadness that we announce the tragic accidental passing of David Kujanpaa of Bolton, formerly of Timmins, Ontario, our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Monday, February 8, 2010, at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga.He leaves his devoted wife Judy, daughters Krista Lax (Steve), Kim Sabadics (Justyn) and Kyra Kujanpaa.“Papaa” will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Samantha and Dana Sabadics, Ava and Joseph Lax – his “Doe – Doe’s”.He will also be remembered by his sister Marje (Paul), brother Stanley, and nephew Ricky of Sudbury.Dave was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1942 and he started his career in the food industry as a young man working for Dominion Stores in Sudbury.For a brief time he operated as a manager of Coca Cola plant in Sault Ste. Marie.His love for the grocery business had lured him back to the food industry and in 1972 he became the owner and operator of Dave’s I.G.A. in Timmins, a business he ran successfully for 17 years.He retired in 1989 and moved to southern Ontario.However, his love for the food industry once again lured him back to the City of Timmins where in 1994 he became the owner and operator of the newly built Dave’s Independent Grocer until his retirement in 1996.Dave was a people’s person, and very community minded.His genuine kindness, generosity and integrity will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Marmor, Chief of Neurosurgery, Trillium Health Centre of Mississauga for his exceptional care and services.A very special thanks to our “Justyn” for his loving support to the family, and to our dearest friends Gary and Bella Lew for always being there when we needed them.A private family memorial service will be held at the Egan Funeral Home, Bolton (905-857-2213).The family will receive friends at a luncheon on Friday, February 12 at noon at 42 Esposito Drive, Bolton (905-951-3879).The family requests donations be made to the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation,555 University Avenue, TorontoM5G 1X8.Expressions of sympathy and condolences may be made online to kkuj@ntl.sympatico.ca
