In the early morning of Thursday, July 19th, 2018, Dawn Patricia Bishop (nee Hanna) as family, extended family and friends had rallied around her, passed peacefully in her sleep after a sudden illness. Survived by her children Aaron James and Afton Jane and her husband Justin, granddaughter Aihlin, brother Colin and sister-in-law Dawn Rupert, and her partner Dave Lanktree and a legacy of friends near and dear, old and new, two and four footed.
Dawn’s large family “back home” in Northern Ireland was always a source of pride and smiles, and were always in her heart. While she never made the journey back in life she will do so in the future. Dawn was a unique individual, forever placing the needs of family and friends, clients and causes and animals great and small ahead of herself. Rescuing those that needed shelter, support or a home was a hallmark of her character.
She has slipped the surly bonds of earth and rides free of the physical restraints of life.
Forever in our hearts.
Saddle your horse
Take to the trail
Follow the path
That we’ll all know to well.
The sun on the dew
That wets hooves with each step
Like the tears down our faces
As we lost you, we wept
Quick tap of the heel
Gallop! Wind in your hair
Toward Mum and Dad
And know that we care
As those that you touched
Will tend to the stall
That you left the last time
Whence came the call
Rein in and slow
To a gentle soft gait
But dig in with the heels!
One last gallop!
For this horse woman.
Heaven can wait.
God bless and Love You, Dear Sister.
A memorial service will be arranged and this notice updated in the near future.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Hold each other close and take comfort in your friends. We are here for you.
I leave this message with the words from one of my favourite songs to sing –
An Irish Blessing… “May the road rise to meet you, and the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall softly on your fields.”
