Dear Mary and Family,
“The strife is o’er, the battle done; the victory of life for Delbert is won; the song of triumph has begun. Hallelujah!” God has been Delbert’s battle shield throughout his life, particularly during the war and through his illness. “In suffering love our God comes now, hope’s vision born in gloom; with tears and laughter shared and blessed the desert yet will bloom.” We will all miss Delbert’s earthly presence, his calm, cheerful, quiet manner which has blessed us. I regret that I can not be with you tomorrow. After the world wide communion in the morning, I will be at the final two concerts of the Colours of Music in Barrie tomorrow. You are surrounded by many prayers and much love. You are never alone. God is with you. Kenneth

Dear Mary & Bannon Family,
Jim will be at the visitation but I am unable to be there myself, due to ill health, but my thoughts & prayers are with you all.
”We sorrow not as those who have no hope” & yet we do feel sorrow for your family – as you will miss him dearly – but we do not feel sorrowful for Delbert today – we rejoice with him, as he is home now, whole & strong & free of pain, in the presence of his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. He leaves many wonderful memories of a life well lived & the example of a beautiful Christian testimony. To his family he leaves the heritage of a loving & Godly husband, father & grandfather which is more precious than earthly riches. We were so blessed to have Mary & Delbert as next door neighbours & as a brother & sister in Christ for many years. Delbert always had a cheery greeting & an interesting story to tell & never a word of complaint during his long illness. He was a sweet man & a precious brother in Christ & we will miss him until we meet again. Mary – our thoughts & prayers are with you every day & we will continue to visit whenever we can. Love & prayers, Roseanne & Jim Dobie

To The Bannons & Extended Family
We are remembering all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Like you we know that Delbert was a “special” man and he will be missed. A proud Canadian, a proud veteran and a very proud father and grandfather is how many of us will remember him best. We will also remember his as someone quick to extend a hand in friendship or a hand to help. We are thankful that we had the opportunity to know Delbert in this life and that whatever suffering he endured during his final days here is now over.
While we grieve with you in his passing and miss him, we give thanks to God for Delbert’s life here and we know that we will see him again in God’s timing.
May God continue to uphold you all in His strenght and love.

We were saddened to learn of Delbert’s passing, but are thankful that he is now in the presence of the Lord, free from all earthly suffering. When we first arrived at Calvary Baptist Church in 1983, Delbert and Mary warmly welcomed us and encouraged us many times. I was always interested in his stories of World War II, as my dad had also fought in the War, being just two years older than Delbert. We appreciated the part Delbert played in many Remembrance Day services at Calvary, and shall always remember him as a fine, dedicated Christian gentleman. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this time.
