To the Politis family. In this time of heartbreak and sorrow….may you all find comfort in each other and in the memories that Demetre made in your lives. I worked with Demetre for just 1 short month but he was always pleasant, respectful and kind. He always said good morning to me whether it was in the shop or in the parking lot. We are a small company but everyone here is family….We feel as though we lost a valued member of our family. May he rest in peace and may you all find solace in his love. Many sincere condolences.

Jin Coyle
To the Politis family:
My name is Jim Coyle. I taught Demetre this past year in the journalism program at Humber College. I liked him immediately. He had a bit of attitude. He reminded me of myself as a young man. The first story he handed in to me was remarkably good. It showed a sensitivity and talent for observation that I told him was unusual in a young reporter. Some people can be taught that kind of thing. But most just have it. I told him he did. He also had real curiousity. And I told him those gifts meant he had real promise as a journalist. His chief interest seemed to be in documentary making. He was a lovely young man who was very proud of his family heritage. I am deeply sorry for your loss. God bless you in this difficult time, Jim Coyle.

I was a classmate of Demetre’s. The promise and passion he had in the field of journalism was inspiring. I worked on a few projects with him, and the things we taught each other, the work we did, and the impact he had any time he was in a class will not be forgotten. We got on each others cases a bit in order to get work done, but we know it was for the best, especially when we were doing it for marks, and to be recognized for great work. He was a fantastic young man, and an even better student. My sincere condolences, I am truly sorry for your loss. Demetre will always be remembered. God bless.
Denissa Palmer
On behalf of some of Demetre’s friends in his class I want to share my deepest and most sincere condolences to your family. I never thought I would ever be doing this for Demetre but God always has a greater plan. Demetre was an extremely funny, intelligent and driven student and a great friend who I could always depend on. Class will not be the same without him. May you find comfort in knowing that Demetre will be apart of us all for the rest of our lives. I am deeply sorry for you loss, and may God be by your side during this difficult time. With love, Denissa Palmer.

I know it’s a little late, but I’m still offering my condolences.
Demetre was a great friend; and I loved talking to him whenever I got the chance. He was one of the Humber Journalism classmates that I got along pretty well with.
Classes really have not been the same without him. As I’ve already entered my third year without him, I recount all of the positive memories and conversations that I’ve shared with him. He was a great guy to share class – and memories – with. While I still treasure them, it’s sad that I won’t share reality with him anymore.
I think about him daily. Since I started my third year last week, not a day has gone by where I haven’t thought about the guy.
Once again, I’m very sorry for the Politis family. You have lost a great family member, and a valuable member of the communities he was also in: At college; at work; his overall circle of friends; etc.
Rest in peace, Demetre. I shall never forget you, and I’ll keep you in my prayers.
