Owner of Yerex Pharmacy Limited
Bolton, Ontario from 1961-1999
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Dick on Friday, July 20, 2012, at the age of 76 years, beloved husband of Joan (nee Gillis) for 54 years. Cherished father of Brett (deceased) and Shelley (Rick). Loving grandfather of Spencer and Kacey Jones. Dear brother of Jeanne Farrell and brother-in-law of Ellen Gillis, Jack Gillis (Arlene) and Joyce Johnson. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews Dave (Debbie) Farrell, Barb (Barry) Farrell, Rosemary Farrell, Paul (Val) Gillis, Jill (Matt) Kerrigan and Lynn (Pat) Kerrigan. In 1961, Dick moved with his young family from Rexdale to Bolton and opened Yerex Pharmacy. In his 38 years of business he enjoyed helping people with their health care needs and getting to know his customers and employees personally. He sponsored local children’s sports teams and the annual town parades. When his son, Brett was diagnosed with ALS in 2000, Dick and a small group of people started the ALS Walk in Orangeville. Dick was continually learning about science, history and geography and he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Joan, to exotic countries such as Hong Kong, Morocco, Spain and Thailand. Dick liked hiking and was involved with the Humber Valley Heritage Trail Association. Dick thoroughly enjoyed gatherings with his friends and family, especially if dessert was being served. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S., Bolton on Saturday afternoon, July 28 from 12:30 until time of memorial service in the chapel at 2 o’clock.
If you wish, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or ALS Society of Canada, 3000 Steeles Avenue East, Suite 200, Markham L3R 4T9.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I am so sorry for what you’re going through right now.
Dick was an amazing man and he touched the hearts of so many people, here and I’m sure, wherever he went. He was only here for a finite time. On lend, you could say. But remember him joyously and he will live on, as long as people delight in memories of him. He has left a legacy of truth and kindness. We can honour him by perpetuating those qualities in our lives. Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Joan, Shelley and Family
Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. Dick was certainly a wonderful friend and the ultimate professional and a true gentleman. Gil has never forgotten how Dick helped Gil in the early days of his dental practice. He kept an appointment book in his store for future patients to make appointments for the new dentist until his office opened. Gil often recalls the coffee with ice cream that he and Dick had in the back room when things were quiet. He will be dearly missed. Sincerely Gil & Marlene

Hello Joan and Shelly,
I wanted to let you know that I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father and husband.
I wanted to say how happy I was to be able to work at Yerex Pharmacy when I was a young person.
Dick was a wonderful person and I will always be greatful for the drives home from work so I did not have to walk up and down Bolton hill in the cold.
I also thank him for teaching me many new skills in the Pharmacy.
He was such a friendly kind person and know you will miss him dearly.
