I am sorry for the loss of your husband and father. We go a long way back to classmates at Woodbridge High through being young parents living in Kleinburg We spent a lot of time together at Take 5, T- Ball, Church, Beavers and Scouts and public school. We had a remarkably happy life in the two towns. He will not soon be forgotten and you are often in our thoughts even now.

I first met Don at his Uncle Norm’s BA gas station. From that day he became a good friend. Don was humorous and also opinionated which made him a very likeable. I know this last year was devastating for Don but he never stopped fighting. Going to miss you Don.

On behalf of my late husband Scott and myself, I send our deepest sympathy to you, Sharyn Lynn and your family. We have such fond memories of the afternoon and evening we spent with you and Don at your cottage in PEI. Scott and I loved our visits to PEI so much. It was a special place. And, that evening, Don produced the most delicious pot of steamed mussels that we all enjoyed over great reminiscences. I hope that all the memories you have created together will comfort you in the days ahead.

It is with much regret that I was unable to attend the Celebration of Life for Don.
I met Don for the first time in 2001. I was interviewing with the City of Vaughan Fire Department. I had previously decided that this would be my last time applying, as it was five years of trying and I was figuring I was getting too old (39) to be accepted.
It was the most relaxed and enjoyable job interview I’ve ever had. We were just talking as if we sitting at a kitchen table. We talked about my wife and kids. We also discussed my construction/renovation business that I had with my brother. I can’t remember if the HR person got a word in. A month or so later, I was hired.
About three weeks into training, I saw Don and he asked if I’m still working with my brother. I said no, I’m in recruit class Monday to Friday. He looked at me with a big grin and said ” Oh you lazy so and so”
Unfortunately, I never had the chance to visit him in PEI and see that big grin again but I truly believe we can talk to him and he’ll hear it.
