Peacefully on Wednesday, March 10th, 2004 at Dufferin Oaks Home for Seniors, Shelburne in her 88th year, Doris McLauchlan left the world and those she loved and entered the other world she knew existed and joined those who loved her and were waiting there for her. ᅠBorn on November 27th, 1916 to John D. Samson and Alice Clarke in Magog, Quebec, Doris was predeceased by her husband Wesley, an infant son James, her brother Douglas and sisters Elsie, Margaret, Hazel, her niece Betty Samson, nephews Bill Hall and Scott McLauchlan. ᅠShe is survived by her children Richard (married to Terry), Robert (married to Anna), Susan Piotrowski (married to Richard) and The Reverend Sandra McLauchlan-Abuja (married to Bob). ᅠShe will be sorely missed by a great number of nephews, nieces and friends but no more than by her grandchildren whom she loved and to whom she could not give enough of herself: ᅠMatthew (married to Denise), Jennifer Maynard (married to Shawn), Caitlyn and Corey Piotrowski, Catherine and Sarah Abuja. ᅠIn addition, Doris was blessed by being a great grandmother to Julia McLauchlan and Owen Maynard. ᅠShe was “honourary mom or grandma” to many more, titles she accepted with pride. ᅠThe family wishes to thank Dr. Vanderburgh, the medical and administrative staff and residents of Dufferin Oaks for their care, concern and respect given to our mother during her stay. ᅠThe family also gratefully acknowledges the care and concern of Dr. David Reesor and the staff at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville and Shelburne. ᅠThe family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home Baxter & Giles Chapel, 273 Broadway, Orangeville (519-941-2630) Friday afternoon 2 – 4 and evening 7 – 9 o’clock. ᅠFuneral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 13th at one o’clock. ᅠFollowed by cremation. ᅠSpring interment of cremated remains in Pine Hill Cemetery, Magog, Quebec. ᅠIn lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Paul’s United Church Organ Fund, 211 Pine Street, Magog, Quebec J1X 2H8 or to furnish the guest suite at Dufferin Oaks Home for Seniors, 151 Centre Street, Shelburne L0N 1S4 would be appreciated.
