September 12, 1927 – March 13, 2024
Elfriede passed away peacefully in her 97th year surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Wilhelm Grohal (Willi) in 2021. Survived by her two children Heidi (Stephen Morrison) and Andrew (Anne Pridmore), and her grandchildren Chris (Katrina), Patrick, Julie, and Samantha.
Elfriede’s greatest love was her husband Willi and the family they raised together. Together they worked tirelessly to grow a successful business while she simultaneously managed to be a wonderful Mum and Oma. Elfriede was an accomplished seamstress and was well known for her love of fashion. She was always impeccably groomed and dressed and will be remembered as a charming and elegant woman.
The family will always remember her love of shopping, “Kaffe und kuchen” and her ability to whip up huge batches of german pancakes for a table full of hungry kids and grandkids. Mum, we have so many great memories of you that will be with us forever in our hearts and in our minds. We hope you are dancing The Tennessee Waltz with Dad (Opa). Rest and be in peace now Mum.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday morning, March 22 from 11 o’clock until time of memorial service at 12 o’clock.
Inurnment will take place immediately following the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton.

So many happy memories from the past. Elfriede truly was a lovely lady. I still have a vivid image of her and Willi dancing together in their living room in Scarborough a long time ago (plus so many more) and how devoted they were to each other.
Our condolences to you Heidi, Andrew and family.

Lovely lady, always happy to see me , we had a good time visiting or chatting on the phone, there was lots of laughs.
Elfriede was my inspiration, seeing that when you are in advanced youth that you can enjoy life and have fun.

Dear Heidi, Andrew, and families: My Deepest Sympathies and Condolences to you all during this difficult time. It is always very hard to lose a parent. Your mum was an elegant, warm, and kind lady. I have fond memories of her from our childhood. I ran into her several years ago in Zehrs, and she looked the same. I recognized her immediately. My heart goes out to all of you. Take care. Warmest Regards, Mary Fearn-Duffy

My sincerest and deepest condolences to Heidi, Andrew and families. We met your parent when we purchased a home from your Father in Everett . We had a good relationship with your Mom & Dad because we were also German and I remember coming to your house on McVean. I kept in touch when your Mom was in Collingwood.
May your memories give you comfort and peace. Your parents are together now.
