It is with deep sadness that the family of Eliza DeLuca (nee Degan) announces her peaceful passing on Sunday March 19th, 2017 at the age of 79 years after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. Beloved wife of Bruno DeLuca and sister of Johnny and Michael Degan (all predeceased). Loving mother of Luigina DeLuca (deceased), Corina Plonis (Leon), Brian DeLuca (Cecilia). A loving and proud Nonna to Amelia, Elaina, and James. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Born on July 4, 1937 in Gatchell, Ontario, Eliza was a well-known Sudbury resident and had a strong community of friends and family. She spent a life time caring for her family, friends and had a special fondness for birds and flower gardening. Eliza had many talents that she expressed through her cooking and a hidden talent and love for freehand drawing. Eliza was a long time parishioner of St. Patrick’s Parish and helped out with the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday, March 22 from 4 o’clock until time of funeral service in the chapel at 7:30 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Patrick Church, Sudbury on Saturday morning, May 27 at ten o’clock followed by interment in Civic Memorial Cemetery. My condolences to Elisa’s surviving family. I knew her when she was a busy, loving mother and wife. Always ready with something to eat and always with a smile and a great sense of humor at the ready. She has so much to be proud of in her legacy, with her son and daughter doing well, and grandchildren that loved her too. I know that she is now at peace and no longer has to struggle with a body that betrayed her in her final years. Rest has finally come for this lovely lady.

Sharon and I will miss her presence at whatever occasions had brought us together lately. Her quiet warmth was her great virtue, and I can guarantee, that as one of her nephews, all of her nieces and nephews, have nothing but greatest memories of her as well as her husband, Bruno. Together again. Goodbye Zia.
