After a long and fruitful life, it is with sadness but also memories of joy and laughter that we say goodbye to Eugene Sapkowski,
August 26th 1929 – April 18 2022.
Eugene was born in Hamulka, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1961. Through his life he often worked 2 jobs working as a machinist for McDonnell Douglas full time and moon lighting as a plumber at night to support his family. Hard working and always putting his family first, Eugene enjoyed time on Georgian Bay fishing and gardening around the family cottage he built and maintained for many years. He loved animals and children and was always smiling in their presence making sure all were welcome. Tata will be missed dearly by his children John, Andy (predeceased), George and Teresa. Eugene will also be sadly missed by his son in law Sean Winslow and daughter in law Mary Sapkowski (predeceased). Dziadzia leaves behind the many grandsons he loved: Chris and Paul Sapkowski, Jacob and Aaron Sapkowski and Liam, James and Aidan Winslow. Dziadzia also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Ian and Evelyn Sapkowski. Eugene is predeceased by his loving wife Amelia, his brother Marion and his sister Lonia Kirejczyk. Eugene will also be missed by his sister Helen Ciupak as well as by many family and friends.
Eugene had a long and adventure filled life and was loved by many. While we will miss him, we have so many memories of laughter, love and family times that will carry on as his spirit lives through us.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday afternoon from 4 – 7 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 60 Allan Drive, Bolton on Saturday morning, April 23 at 11 o’clock.
