I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Pinkett’s passing. Although it has been decades since my sisters and I took swim lessons with Mrs. Pinkett I will never forget her. I’m sure everyone growing up in Palgrave and the surrounding area had the privilege of having her as their swim instructor. Looking back I feel she was a trailblazer – she was confident and strong and did what she loved. That is the impression she has left on me and I’m sure many others. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Such great memories of such a great lady. I’ll not forget your mom’s beautiful smile and her patience, as she encouraged young Grade 4 swimmers when I first met her in that “swimmer” capacity. And then years later when I took my grand daughter, Alicia, for swimming lessons at the Kolb pool. I’m sure she’ll be missed. Let the happy memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.

To the family of Freida Pinkett I would like to offer my sincere condolences. I worked with Freida for a few years when she was teaching swimming at the Kolb pool. She was a lovely lady to work for and we did have our share of laughs.

Freida was one best swimming instructor from Caledon Pool to Freida Pinkett swim school. Red Cross also had a lot of respect for her knowledge of the swimming program. Her heart and soul of what she did for the children and adults in the Palgrave area for swimming and other activities.
Best years were working with Freida, she made programs ROCK.
How she remembered how everyone swam, and their week stroke was amassing.
We had a lot of fun working together. She always had great staff working with her.
She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren,

Freida was a childhood friend, we loved her and her family. Just heard the sad news today.
She was talented and the family were so kind and generous to so many.
Sending love and sympathy to the family. RIP Free.

The Paget Family
We are saddened to hear of Freida’s passing. When Kevin and Alex were young we remember, with fondness, Freida’s skillful and loving touch in bringing both our sons from beginner to Seniot Level 8 (I believe it was). With her “at the helm” we knew our boys would be safe in the water. Kevin swims like a dolphin and Alex…well…at least he doesn’t sink!!
Our thoughts are with you today. And like all who were fortunate to have known her, we’ll keep her memory alive, where we keep thoughts of the special people we’ve known in this life.
The Pagets…Garry, Peggy, Kevin and Alex

My condolences to all of you from the Gugula family.
About forty years ago we bought some acreage from the Pinkett family and built a house on Mill Lane. One very cold February night, a fire started in our home and as soon as the volunteer firefighters came to help, so did Freida. She drove over, collected my young son and me and took us to her house while the fire was being put out. It’s a kindness never to be forgotten. Freida also taught all three of my children to swim very well. A lovely woman, a skilled teacher and a wonderful neighbour . Thank you again Freida. May you Rest In Peace.

Lynn Gore
Dear Pinkett family,
Please accept condolences on behalf of the Gore family on the passing of lovely Freida. She taught all five of my children to swim and had the patience of an angel welcoming all of the them into the Kolb’s pool for their very first lessons and for many years to follow. She is fondly remembered in our home and a special part of my memories raising my family. I am so sorry for your loss.
Nancy, Craig and Christine & Tom Honey
Dear Pinkett family,
Please add us to the list of families that owe Freida a huge debt of gratitude for teaching our children how to swim. But even more, how to love the water with her positive attitude and understanding of what each student needed to be motivated to succeed. She would be delighted that same positive attitude is being passed by our children to their children – getting them in the water at six months. From reading the above, Freida’s legacy is not just her own children but to many, many others as well.
Well done Freida – you will always be remembered fondly by us. The Honey family.

Sincere condolences to Dave and his family. Remember your mother at hockey games back in the day when we battled each other. God bless.

I as well, looking through old scrapbooks, just came across this condolences page. I found a lovely letter saying goodbye as i was moving to the US with my family. Frieda was my first swim instructor, and i still have all the badges to prove it!
She started me down the road to a successful competitive career i mainlined through College , including a lot of personal growth and life lessons, championship swims i will never forget, and a few life long friends along the way.
My absolute best wishes to her whole extended family.
