Gary William Westlake, beloved husband and best friend of Mary-Joan for 59 years, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Brampton Civic Hospital. He was a loving father to Scott and his partner Julia Isla, Laurian and her partner Jason Black, Patrick Westlake and his husband Bradley Karlik. Proud grandfather of Carter and Jaden; Connor, Nicole, and Colleen. Dear brother of John and his wife Mary-Ann, Wayne (deceased) and his wife Patricia, and David and his wife Patty. Cherished brother-in-law to Randy Zeagman. Gary will be fondly remembered by his Poker Pals of Palgrave, many friends, and cherished cottage time. He had a special place in his heart for Clearwater, Florida, and over 30 years of traveling to Seattle. As well as his enjoyment in gardening, Gary was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Gary’s passion for sports was evident to all who knew him. After 35 years of dedicated service Gary retired as Sales Manager from Gordon Food Service. Above all, Gary’s greatest joy in life was his five grandchildren who held a special place in his heart and brought him immense happiness.

Mary-Joan and family, my condolences. I’m saddened. Gary was kind and fun loving. I’m fortunate he had time for a kid in university who was interested in his beloved uncles, Albert, Tommy and George. He invited me to your home, encouraged me and shared his materials. He inspired me to build a memorial too. I’m lucky to have met him. Jean-François

Mary-Joan, Scott, Laurian and Patrick,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Gary (Mr. Westlake as I so affectionately new him) and I send all of you my deepest condolences. It saddens me deeply that we have lost another one of our great Fathers. Mr. Westlake was truly a gentleman that I held in the highest esteem and just an all around awesome dude! The line was always blurred between family and friend when I was in his company and for that matter the entire Westlake family. One was always made to feel at ease at BellAir Drive or wherever the gathering might be. Always a good time and a great laugh. He, along with Mrs. Westlake, raised 3 great kids and and I am truly blessed to have had them in my life. Wishing all of you comfort in this difficult time.
