August 10, 1939 – February 18, 2022
Ted passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, February 18, 2022. Dear husband and life companion of sixty-one years to Doreen, outstanding father to Ron, Brenda, Allan (Gina), David (Raquel), Charlene (Andrew), and doting grandfather to Jocelyn, Holly (Adam), Colin, Sherri, Sydney, Madison, Ashley, Meghan, Emily, Morgan, Liam, Andrew, Kate, Laura, and predeceased by P.J.. Loving brother to Laureen (Gordon), Elmer (Hilda), Viola (Harold), Norrie (Marg), John (Shirley), Beryle (Emil), and twin Edwin (Betty). Son of the late John Ernest and Jean Watson.
Born and raised on the farm in Palgrave, Ontario, Ted and Ed were the final rascals to the Patterson family. Doreen swept him off his feet and together they settled in town to raise their own family. With five kids, he was always seen at arenas, ball parks and campsites around Ontario, including his beloved Woodland Park in Sauble Beach, where he and Doreen enjoyed countless summers.
Along with his family responsibilities, Ted started volunteering at Caledon Fire Station #6 in 1962, where, over the years, he served alongside his twin brother, three sons and countless friends, before retiring as Assistant District Chief in 1994.
Ted had a successful career of twenty-seven years at Northern Telecom and, after retirement, he had a long-term second career at Wanderosa Wood Products. In his spare time, Ted would be found doting on his garden, or in his garage lovingly crafting wood projects for his family and community – you can spot his craftmanship scattered along the Trans-Canada Trailway giving birds places to nest.
Ted was a man of few words, unless you misplayed at Euchre. He taught us to always plant the green side up, and where best to hide the rye bottles. That the best Tim Horton’s coffee was served at 10:30 a.m., and Saturday nights were reserved for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Respects of Ted’s life can be offered to the family at Egan’s Funeral Home, 203 Queen St S, Bolton, ON L7E 2C6, on Thursday, February 24, 2022. The family will welcome friends and extended family between 4:00-7:00 p.m.
