To my honourary Grand-mom!
I love you to the moon and back again….and always will! You have known me since I was a little girl and I have thought of you as my Grand-mom as long as I can remember (as my Grandparents were far away). You were and always will be an important part of my life. Twenty-eight years ago this week I got engaged, you hosted my bridal shower and you hosted many events over the years for our family including an anniversary party for my mom and dad.
You and Jack trusted me to take care of your house and George (German Sheppard) for a week while you went away. George was my protector. I had my first date with Warren (Husband) while taking care of George. I remember a van drove up into the driveway, rang the bell and George started barking (took out the drapes in the hallway). I said down and sit and he did. The delivery man gave me the flowers, looked terrified as I had this German Sheppard with me, I said thank you and he left and so did George! George was well trained and knew the driver was fine so George jumped into his van lol. I went out and said to the driver he likes you, the driver said thank goodness! I said come George sit. The driver was very impressed and said you are a good mom. I said I am the babysitter but his mom is great!
Rest in peace Grace! I will miss you dearly. You were a big part of the person I turned out to be today. Because of you and Jack, Warren and I had our first date 28 years ago.
Love always!

Dear Jack and Family… So sorry to hear about the loss of your wonderful wife. Grace was such a personable lady with a positive outlook . She will be missed. We always enjoyed her visits Our condolences.

For the past 48 years, Grace has been the “adopted” grand-mother to my sisters (Karen and Kathy) and I. And as our families grew, she took great pleasure in seeing us, our husbands and our children.
Grace touched our hearts, always opening her home and taking great interest in our lives over a cup of tea!
Grace will be missed by all of us, but especially by Jack.
Linda Wood (The Zehrs Lady)
Grace always tipped me with what change she had in her wallet. Usually it was a Twoonie. I kept telling her it wasn’t necessary and that I was just doing my job, but she insisted that I could buy myself a coffee on her. And that one day she wouldn’t be able to so please take it now for all the help I give them every Wednesday when they come in shopping.
I will look at a Twoonie now and always remember her….
She was funny too because every time she paid the grocery bill and we were about ready to leave the til, she would look at me earnestly and say, “He doesn’t know it yet, but he is taking me to lunch at Timmies, …. And HE’S buying!”
My deepest condolences on your loss of this gentle and kind woman. I will miss her.
