There are no words that will comfort you as you start this part of your journey with Heathers illness. But time will lessen the pain and bring to mind only the happy, sweet memories you had with her. Heather set a standard for strength, love and inspiration in her short life and during her journey with her disease that I have never seen before, this will be hard for you and your family to emulate or match as you go on without her.
Remember her bright, beautiful smile and quite strength. Remember her ability to face the pain and fears of what was happening to her, and still remain upbeat and happy. Remember the love and hope she inspired by sharing with all her journey, it was truly remarkable to witness. I believe everyone is put on earth with a purpose and a timeline to accomplish it, and I think Heather fulfilled her reason for existing and then some!! She showed all of us how to be strong even when you are very young and facing adversity. She showed us how to find charity and help others when she was suffering herself. She showed us that even when things are tough and frightening you can still find the energy to smile and have some fun. She showed us that no one is ever given more than they can handle, and handle it she did!! With more grace, strength, and insurmountable hope than anyone could expect. She showed us that it does not matter how long you live but how you live!! She touched so many with her bright, shining soul!! She Was and will always be a beautiful memory for me, and an inspiration to all who witnessed her journey and limitless hope in the face of adversity. Such a young lady to have touched so many and made such a mark on the world. She may be gone but she will shine and live on in all of us……
Love, peace and strength to you all.

I don’t personally know Heather or her family, but have been following her courageous fight on Facebook. It is an understatement to say how sad I feel today, even though I’m many kilometers from you.
Nothing left for me to say except my most sincere condolences and I truly pray she’s in a better place now and in peace. Her suffering on Earth is now done.
To those she has left behind, we are the ones left to grieve her loss. It’s something we must do, and in time, we have to be functional again and live our lives as it was intended. A difficult task to be sure. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family.
With Love

To the Leonardo family,
After hearing about our beautiful Heather Leonardo passing, I wanted to personally write to your family. I was not a good friend of Heather, however I have been keeping track of the Facebook Group since it was first created. My prayers and positive vibes have been going out to Heather and your family. I met some of you at Boston Pizza Bolton, I saw how beautiful Heather looked and I was so excited to be your server. I told Heather that it was such a pleasure serving her and that I was so happy to see her. I am beyond hurt and upset about the circumstances. May it comfort you to know that Heather was and will always continue to be an inspiration to so many of us. I cannot imagine how you must be feeling, but you have the love and support of many people to pick you up from your sadness. From experience, it’s going to be hard to continue your life with a smile on your face, but think of Heather – she is watching you from Heaven smiling and being proud of all your accomplishments. She wants each and every one of her family members and friends to be happy and stay strong. She doesn’t want to see you sad. Remember her as the person she is and was. Remember and cherish every memory of her. If I can make myself useful to you in any way, please email me and let me know.
Always remember, Heather is not gone forever. She is still there in your hearts and all around you. She is the beautiful sun rays that will shine on you, she is the flowers blooming in the summer and spring time, she is the brightest star in the sky and she is there in your home, keeping you safe. All you need to do is to show her that you can continue living your life, as she would want you to. And to Colleen, she is your other half. She is living in your heart. Never forget that.

With love and sympathy,
Valeria Aguirre-Martin

what a beautiful girl. One of the most positive people I have ever met, she can always find a way to light up a room and make people always look at the positive aspects of life. She made people grateful for what they had and strive for what they wanted. She is an inspiration to many people and will always be known as “Country Strong”… or “Princess Warrior”
Rest in Paradise beautiful. You will never be forgotten. xoxoxo

Heather,You showed strength when most would have felt defeated, you showed hope when most would have felt lost, you showed bravery when most would have turned face and most of all, you were a beacon of light when there was nothing but darkness. You have touched my life beyond mere words. I know that you are resting now in heaven because angels have to return home. Though you were here on Earth only for a short while, you have left a lifetime of memories. Rest in Eternal Peace sweet angel. You are Country Strong

John and Denise: We are very distressed, that with the heartfelt
prayers of so many friends, that were really plugging for Heather,
there was no results that we wished for. Tina and I, at our place in
life, try pray for events to change for the happiness that is denied to
folks like you; and especially Heather and her siblings. We respect
“life”, as we know it, is definitely not fair! Nor can we understand it,
but to see the picture of Heather, shown on the computer screen, it
left us with that big “WHY”? The basic religious hopes, that we cling
to, tell us that there is much more to our existence, than what we see
here! With unconditional love, is all we can give: Tina and Rob

Dear John,
Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
No one knows why bad things happen to those so innocent and whose life has hardly begun. For now it will have to remain the painful mystery that it is. Losses like this can break someone’s life; however, this is precisely the time when our spirit needs to be its strongest.
We hope that you and your family will find the strength to get you through your grief and sadness.
In Sincere Friendship,

Anyone who knew Heather when she was growing up will no doubt agree that she was sweet, well-mannered, gentle and kind with a beauty that radiated in everything she did. From the far-too –recent moment that Heather’s battle with cancer began, a powerful resilience and a strength that remains indescribable personified the woman she was only beginning to grow into.
Heather’s passing is a devastating loss to those who loved her; moreover, the community has lost a jewel in its crown. She will be missed tremendously and thought of in countless ways forevermore.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to all the family and friends in this sad, sad time.
It’s strange sometimes how someone can touch you in ways you never expected. Heather did just that for me and my band brothers in Audio Taxi.
She showed us her courage, heart and determination even in the face of something so devastating. That changes the way you think. Seeing a young girl in that situation with such a heart-warmingly positive attitude makes you think twice about complaining the next time you simply get a headache or a cold. The contrast between such determined strength and courage mixed with the fragility and unpredictability of life gives you pause in the way you might normally look at things. It gives you hope.
I only met Heather a few times, but she touched me. She left her mark. I wished I’d gotten to know her more as a person. I’m sure she would have surprised me even more.
You will be missed, Heather. Rest in peace.
Your memory will live forever in our hearts.

My sincerest condolences to the entirety of your family, friends and absolutely everyone who had the honor and privilege of having this extraordinary young lady in their life. I unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet Heather, although I am a friend of Steven’s and familiar with her truly incredible and compelling story. She was quite obviously a phenomenally courageous, strong and brave young girl who was faced with unfortunate challenges well beyond her years. She truly was a warrior and an inspiration to any individual enduring a comparable battle. This is extremely disheartening and tragic news. My whole heart goes out to everyone in her life, especially her family who fought relentlessly by her side. You will all be continually in the thoughts and prayers of my family and myself each and every day. Once again words cannot express how terribly sorry I am. Although we never had the privledge to meet Heather from what we know she was a beauitful and courageous young lady. She has truely inspired many individuals with her story and words of encourage. she bought the town together by batteling the unimaginable. The Leonardo family should be so proud of the daughter you guys have raised. She put up a good fight and now is in a better place, free of pain.
My heart and thoughts go out to Rachael, Steve and the Leonardo family this morning/afternoon and always. May you always remember that you are surrounded by many that love you. May they comfort you during these difficult times.

This is mainly to John, with whom I worked for much time, many years ago. My wife and I were once invited to their home but unforrtunately cannot recall meeting with Heather (more pity for us, it seems!).
However, we do regret hearing of the loss of such a young and beautiful child.
Please accept our sincere condolences

Our deepest sympathy goes out to you Denise for the lose of your precious daughter Heather. Let these words add some comfort to you at this difficult time.
“When I was born and saw the light
I was no stranger in this world
Something inscrutable, shapeless, and without words
Appeared in the form of my mother
So when I die, the same unknown will appear again
As ever known to me,
And because I love this life,
I will also love death as well.”

It will be the little things that you remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, and the laughter. Although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that will help push the pain away. May you find the strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Leonardo family.

I didn’t know Heather all that well, but I went to school with her ever since I moved to Caledon. All through elementary school and highschool. I always knew who she was, and I have always thought her to be an extremely courageous and beautiful young woman. She seemed to be wise and compassionate beyond her years. I followed all the updates on her facebook page and was shocked to hear the news. My heart is heavy for your family. I know what it is like to lose a sibling. Please be strong, and God bless your family and Heather. Thank you for sharing her beautiful story. Although I didn’t really know her in this life, I will never forget her. Lots of love.

Lord, whisper here
What you whispered there
Just as all this began
Whisper with power
Whisper as only You can
Here in our darkest hour
Just as we lose hope
And give up the fight
In this our longest night
Dispelling the fear
Lord, whisper here,
“Let there be light.”
