Peacefully, at home in Bolton, on Thursday, February 2, 2023, Harry left us at the age of 80 years. Loving father of Valerie (Paul) Holt and Gary (Wendy) Cant. Cherished grandfather of Kyle Cant, Lauren (Nick) Ceolin, Ryan (Kaya) Holt, Rachel (Justin) Simon-Holt. Proud great-grandfather of Harriet Simon-Holt and Leo Holt. Dear brother of Isobel Ferris.
Born in Port Glasgow, Harry was always the adventurer. In 1966, he sailed the Atlantic, with his young bride (Helen) and two-year-old daughter (Valerie) to the new world. The following year, a son (Gary) was the first Cant born on Canadian soil, in the year of the 100th anniversary of the country Harry came to adopt as his home for the rest of his life.
Harry had a successful career as a Tool and Die Maker and a business owner. Harry was a lifetime supporter of his Glasgow Rangers and a multi-year winner of the Best Attendance Award at the Toby.
Harry was a social being and had many friends. His friends will all attest that Harry helped us all by showing us how to just enjoy the day.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) for a Memorial Reception on Friday afternoon, February 10 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 2:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Red Cross (https://donate.redcross.ca/ ) or Ontario SPCA and Humane Society (https://ontariospca.ca/) would be appreciated.
Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome

Harry will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A wonderful friend to many people. He always had a twinkle in his eye and loved a kiss from the ladies. We will miss him sitting at The Toby Jug bar having an ale. I used to sit reading on the other side of the pub. A few years ago, Harry called over to me and said that I should sit at the bar. I have ever since. His broad Scottish accent a joy to hear.
My deepest condolences to the family

Hey guys- you know I love you all and of course, I loved Harry!! He has been a significant person in my life and the lives of many many others!! I will never forget this piece of advise he gave to a group of us ‘chicks’ when we were sitting around bemoaning relations with the opposite sex- and I quote “start it as you want it to continue”!! No wiser words have been spoken!;)
I will also miss patting his belly and asking him “Harry….what you got in the bread basket” (with my best Scottish accent! Lol;)
God bless him!! And May God fill your minds and hearts with great memories, as the pain of his loss is slowly replaced by the beauty of all he was, shared, and meant ❤️❤️

My father-in-law, my pal, my teacher.
Harry, I can’t imagine this home without you. We have shared so many fun times, sad moments and yes you were a pain in my behind many times. I would not have changed a single moment because the love we shared made everything okay. You taught me what was truly important and what was not worth the worry. I promised you I would not tell anyone you were really a softy under that gruff exterior, but it appears the word is already out. Everyone loves you Harry! Forever in my heart. Wendy

My condolences to Harry’s children and grandchildren. He tried to portray that he was a gruff man, but under all that he was a big softy. He lived his life to the fullest right up to the end. You will be sadly missed Harry, by your many friends but especially your family.
