Dear Penny
I am so sorry to hear of Howard’s passing. He was a very special friend to me. Much more than just a very good customer. Howard had a huge HEART. I know how much he used to help out the neighbour kids with computers and such. His nickname could have been “Humble Howard” because he didn’t really want anyone to know how much he was helping others. Howard developed and significantly grew the business that he took over from his “Uncle Shorty”. Howard demanded that the work be done correctly. He was able to build a trust with all of his customers and his suppliers. He was a special man. And, Penny, he was very lucky that you came into his life when you did. You were there for him and he appreciated it. Howard will be sadly missed. Sincerely Ron and Marilyn Armstrong. Penny, I hope that I can get to the visitation but my mom had a fall and is in the hospital. I am the only family member that can visit right now.

Auriol and I wish to express our sincere condolences in the passing of a treasured friend. Howard and I go back a long way, first as a business acquaintance which developed into a lasting friendship. Although we didn’t see enough of each other over the last few years we continued to enjoy each other’s company with the occasional visit and phone call. I miss him badly. But I will remember the good times – driving around in the Ford pickup visiting job sites, coffee breaks, meals, a few parties, family visits. I see and hear him telling me to “give my head a shake” on many occasions. Rest in pease my good friend.

Worked with Howard on many insulation projects at Canada Packers over 20 years years ago. We remember fond memories golfing together. He was very much a people person that took care of his customers. I’m sure his memories will live on with the people that knew him.

Howie was long time friend and he is truly missed. We first met on a construction project at Eldorado Nuclear in Port Hope in 1969. He was just one of the pipe coverers working for The Atlas Asbestos Co. at the time. I was a farm kid just out of college and according to Howie, still had hayseeds in my ears. Over the years since, he proved to be one of the most talented, reliable and hardest working tradesmen that I have ever met Howie was the go-to guy if a tight schedule had to be met or if a project was in trouble. That work ethic was one of the main reasons for his business success in later years, along with his “gift of the gab” and his insistence on giving the customer what he paid for. Howie would give a friend the shirt off his back and I could write a whole book on his charity, but the space here is limited. So I just finish by saying goodbye old friend, where ever you are I hope there are Lincolns and the fish are biting. You are missed !!

I had the pleasure of both having Howard do insulation jobs for my company as a contractor as well as to work for Howard at Four Jewel Insulation. His business skills in insulating business as well as running his business were impressive to say the least.
In fact I still to this day tell stories of Howards unique ways, some of which I adopted and use to this day.
You’ll be greatly missed by many Howard.
I’m so happy you met Penny, Howard you deserved every minute the two of you had to enjoy each other.
Goodbye my friend.
Trish Lougheed
