It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Italo Zanelli, affectionately known as Menegotti, who left us on Friday, October 13, 2023, in Bolton, Ontario. Born on December 19, 1933, in Latisana, Province of Udine, Italy. Italo lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. He was 89 years old at the time of his passing.
Italo will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and proud great-grandfather. He shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife Flavia.
As a father, Italo was a source of guidance, support, and unwavering love. He leaves behind his three children, Sonia and her husband Dario, Steve and his wife Pina, and Debbie and her husband Nick. Italo’s love for his children was immeasurable and he took great pride in watching them grow, succeed, and become the remarkable individuals they are today.
Italo’s greatest joy in life came from being a grandfather. He adored his grandchildren Stephanie, Michael, Nicholas, and Matthew and their presence brought immense happiness to his heart. Their laughter and youthful energy filled the room whenever they were together, creating precious memories that will be cherished forever.
In recent years Italo became a great-grandfather to Austin and the arrival of this little bundle of joy brought him immeasurable delight. He cherished every moment spent with Austin and embraced the role of a great-grandfather with love and tenderness.
A welder by trade, Italo was a hardworking man. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, zest for life and his many passions. Soccer held a special place in his heart. He was and avid soccer player in his earlier years and later in life watched passionately his favorite team Juventus. Playing cards was another activity that brought Italo immense pleasure. Many afternoons were spent at his favorite club with his friends.
Italo Zanelli, lovingly known as Menegotti, leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family and friends. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to have known him.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday morning, October 18 at 11 o’clock. Followed by cremation.
