Jean Elizabeth McCrea was born on June 13, 1912, in South Mountain, Ontario. After 99 years she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne. Her parents were James C. McCrea and Maggie Robinson. She grew up in Theodore, Saskatchewan with 7 siblings, Blanche, Murray, Don, Margaret, James, Irwin and Madge. Jean came to Bolton to help her sister Blanche, wife of Doctor Walter Wylie. Here she married Stephen Robert Oliver Dick on February 17, 1942 and they raised four children, James, Ron, Carole and Beverly in the village of Bolton. Jean is predeceased by husband Stephen Dick and son Ronald Dick. Remembered with love as mother and mother-in-law by James and Anne Dick, Caledon; Carole and Elgin Murdock, Caledon; Beverly Hamilton and Hans Christensen, Beeton. Nana’s memory will be cherished by grandchildren Deirdre Sweetnam, Kenneth Dick, Hilary Ferris, Stephen Dick, Rhonda Clements, Glen Murdock, Tracey Kippermann, Kimberly Murdock, Connie Austin, Doug Hamilton and Kevin Hamilton. Jean also leaves behind her 16 great-grandchildren, Skye, Aurora, Cameron, Mitchell, Bryn, James, Orly, Sage, Samantha, Jacob, Megan, Owen, Colby, Ashlynn, Robert and Brandon and one great-great-grandchild Zachary.
A funeral service for family and close friends will be held at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Saturday, July 9 at 2 o’clock. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
