Johnston, John Burton (Burt) – of Oakville, died suddenly on Monday, February 2, 2004, of complications resulting from his battle with cancer, at the age of 68 years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret; children Skye (Randy) Fulton, Richmond, B.C.; Randy (Lisa), Birmingham, Alabama; Judi (Ned) Vankevich, Langley, B.C.; Carolyn (Tim) Cestnick, Burlington; Janice (Peter) Nikkel, Langley, B.C.; sister Jean (Bill) Austring Neudorf, Abbotsford, B.C.; brother Gordon (Donna), Bradford. Wonderful grandfather of fifteen, Chloe and Luke Fulton; Lindsay, Logan and Jamie-Ann Johnston; Alexi, Zuri and Sammy Vankevich; Winston, Sarah and Michael Cestnick; Tori, Lincoln, Virginia and Lewis Nikkel. He was predeceased by his parents, Eldred and Annie (Clark) Johnston. Burt owned Streetsville IGA for 35 years, was Past President and honorary member of the Streetsville Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a strong supporter of minor league sports.
The family received their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S., Bolton, Thursday evening 7-9, Friday afternoon 2-4 and evening 7-9 o’clock.
Funeral service will be held in Nashville Road Community Church, 6950 Nashville Road, R.R. 1, Kleinburg (Nashville) on Saturday, February 7 at one o’clock.
Interment Nashville Cemetery.
