Just heard today about John’s passing from our old mutual friend, Ron Day. I flew many trips in the Yukon at 412 Sqn with John in 1965/66 before he left for a stellar career in commercial aviation. Flying with John was an experience – it was always fun but you always learned something about flying, many times more than just something. To John, flying was an art, and he was a consumate artist in command of an aircraft. Beyond that, John Waldie was a great guy and I was very saddened to learn of his passing.
