John Albert Sharp, lovingly known as ‘Jack’ passed peacefully in his 86th year on March 5, 2023 at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill, Ontario after a short battle with cancer.
Jack had a colourful lifetime of travel, adventure and fun with his late wife Lillian Sharp (née Hilliard).
Jack loved the game of golf, both to play and watch. He also could be found deep in a good book, had a solid stash of snacks and once retired, enjoyed an afternoon nap.
Jack was a strong and soft presence as Beverley Berger’s stepfather.
A true family man, Jack was a superb ‘Gramp’ to Stephanie Stephenson (Jeff Stephenson) and Daniel Barra-Berger (Michelle Petrides) and lit up with his great-grandchildren, Piper and Hudson Stephenson.
Jack will be dearly missed by his siblings Marilyn Graham and Bill Sharp, sister-in-law Evelyn Dewit (John Dewit), sister-in-law Rosemary Hilliard and brother-in-law Ron Hilliard (Carol Hilliard) and many neices and nephews, as well as his friends and neighbours at the Gables of Kleinburg.
Jack is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Lillian, his son-in-law John Berger, his parents Harry and Ivy Sharp, brother-in-law Ron Graham, brother Bart Sharp, sister-in-law Marilyn Sharp, sister-in-law June Sharp, sister-in-law Cathy Hesp, and brother-in-law Frank Hilliard.
We are ever grateful to the staff at Bolton Mills Retirement Community where Jack resided for the past year, for their exceptional attention and care. We thank the Mackenzie Health system, all doctors, nurses and caregivers at both Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and the Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill Palliative Unit.
As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides (https://www.dogguides.com/).

Jack was one of the nicest people one could meet, he had a lively sense of humor and enjoyed himself at Wednesday Night Cards.. In his spare time you could always find him in the front hall to have a chat with or just people watch.
Our Condolences to Bev and her family.

Anne and I will miss Jack as we have missed Lil. They were our next door neighbours at the Gables and were among the first to welcome us when we moved in. We did a number of things together in the few years we shared. Jack loved his bagels and any sweets he could find. I loved the look in his eyes when I’d sneak him chocolate cookies during our visits at Bolton Mills.
Rest in peace dear friend!
