1924 – 2013
It is with sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Stan Mountain, at his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 11, 2013, cherished husband of Phyllis, and beloved father of John-Paul and Jane. Son of the late Alex and Ivy Mountain and brother to Norm and his wife Gladys of Caledon, and predeceased by siblings Ruth and Wilfred. He will be missed by his daughter-in-law Julia, and his granddaughters Victoria, Holly and Katy, whom he adored, as well as Jane’s long term partner, Nick Liapis – he was like Stan’s second son. Also missing him are Eileen Robinson of Brampton, Nathan and Miriam Cade of Texas, and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews. Stan lived in Cheltenham his entire life, working in agriculture, raising his family and attending Cheltenham Baptist Church from a very young age. He was a devoted Christian, active in his church and community, and was comforted in knowing he would be spending eternity with the Lord and those he loved. Stan was a deeply loved man and will be missed terribly.
The family will receive their friends at Cheltenham Baptist Church, 14520 Creditview Road, Cheltenham on Wednesday afternoon 2 – 5 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in the Cheltenham Baptist Church on Thursday, May 16 at 2 o’clock. Following the church service, a reception will be held at Cheltenham Baptist Church. Private family interment Boston Mills Cemetery, Caledon. In lieu flowers, donations to The Sharing Way, c/o Canadian Baptist Ministries, 7185 Millcreek Drive, Mississauga L59 5R4 (www.cbm.org), or Cheltenham Baptist Church, 14520 Creditview Road, Cheltenham L7C 1N5. To the entire Mountain family, I offer my heartfelt sympathy to you at this very difficult time. I have always heard the very best spoken of Mr. Mountain – he has been so respected and valued in the Cheltenham community. May we all strive to leave the legacy that he has.
6 My life is being given as an offering to God, and the time has come for me to leave this life. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now, a crown is being held for me—a crown for being right with God. The Lord, the judge who judges rightly, will give the crown to me on that day—not only to me but to all those who have waited with love for him to come again.
2 Timothy 4:6-8
Respectfully,
