In his 84th year, John William Green passed away on July 31, 2017, peacefully with his wife Ann of 57 years and family by his side. Proud father of Stephen (deceased) (Denise), David (Susan), and Richard (Angela), grandfather of Corrine (Matt), Elizabeth (Sam), Christopher, Russell and Jennifer, great grandad of Liam and Audrey, brother of Elizabeth Anne and her husband Bev Daily. Fondly remembered by his relatives in Wales and England. John was born in Seaford, Sussex, England on July 9, 1934. After a brief time in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, John joined Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company in Chippenham. Shortly after moving to Calne, he met his one and only girlfriend Ann who he married in 1960. Three boys followed. In 1972 the family emigrated to Bolton, Ontario for a “three year” posting to set up the North American office. Bolton was to be their home for the next 45 years. John believed in being of service to his community. He was a faithful member of the Bolton United Church, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Bolton, volunteer with Meals on Wheels, United Way, Albion Bolton Agricultural Society and Hydro Commissioner with Caledon Hydro.

So sorry to hear of John’s passing. He reminded me of my Dad – a kind and gentle man. I loved to listen to his stories about the war. He lent me his copy of war stories based around Seaford where he lived as a child – it was very interesting and detailed and brought to life the stories of village people during the war years.
You are in my prayers, Ann.

John was a pastor’s pastor. Not only could John take any part of a church service, he brought to it a deep sense of reverence and joy. Always available to help the clergy at Bolton United Church, he modeled a love for the church, his community, his family. Cheerful, open minded to both listen and learn, John will be greatly missed by his family and his community.
My hope for the Green clan, with the loss of a parent, these last few years will not be your immediate memories, but remember your dad, father in law, granddad and devoted husband, who lived and modeled a life of goodness and wholeness toward those he knew and those he met along the journey of life.

Dear Ann and Family: I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing away. I will always remember his fun loving antics when we all would sing in the Caledon Community Singers. I always felt that him being the Master of Ceremonies at our concerts was a top notch job and I remember him with a smile when he would back up my skit comedy solo “Feed the Birds” with his water whistle.
Take care
