Peacefully at home in King City on Friday, January 28, 2022, with her daughter by her side, Juanita Margaret Guthrie (née McNeil), at the age of 85 years, beloved wife of 55 years to the late James Drummond Guthrie. Loving mother of Fiona and mother-in-law to Mike Lawson. Cherished grandmother of James and his wife Heather, Nicole, and Taylor. Also survived by her brother-in-law Robert Greenhill (Joan) and sister-in-law June Rollo and many nieces and nephews here and in the UK.
Nita was born and lived in Fife, Scotland until 1966 when she journeyed across the Ocean with her 2 year old daughter Fiona, their German Shepherd dog, Trudy, and all their belongings to join Jim, who had come a few months earlier to set up an apartment for them to start their new life in Canada
Nita worked at Rothmans of Pall Mall for over 25 yrs starting as Company Librarian and Travel Agent, retiring as Group Coordinator for the President, VPs and Department Heads.
Nita liked to putter in the garden, but her favorite pastime was reading. Whether it was newspapers, magazines or books this is what she loved to do, over the years building a very substantial book collection.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please check the funeral home website for updated information regarding the location, date and time of the memorial service.

Fiona we wish you and your family peace and comfort during this sad time. You and your Dad were first and foremost in her life, during my employment. She must have loved being a grandparent and then great grandparent.
Your Mother was well-liked at Rothmans…was excellent and efficient at her job.
Back in the early 90’s I had the pleasure to work with and report to your Mother. We got along so well and I enjoyed my few years with her. We kept in touch. She phoned me twice to come back….to fill in…which I did.,..then rehired. That’s how much I enjoyed working for her and the great people at Rothmans.
Thinking about you Fiona.
Warm Regards, Anthea and Dean McKinnon
