Died peacefully on June 27th, 2013, surrounded by family, three days before her 85th
birthday. She will be very much missed by her husband, John, of 57 years, her children Lesley (Colin Richards) Charlotte (Chad Erickson) and Taylor, her grand-children Gabriel Richards, Tara and Neil Gregory, as well as her large extended family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her life-long trio of sister Gale Burland and cousins Beverly and George Shaw. June grew up in St. Catharines, graduated from Havergal College and the
University of Western Ontario, and became a world champion synchronized swimmer, inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame for her accomplishments. She was also a pilot on the sly, an avid fox-hunter with the Eglinton & Caledon Hunt, a fiercely competitive croquet player, a passionate volunteer with disabled veterans and local causes alike, stalwartly active in her beloved Caledon community, and a generous and wise mentor to many. Of late, she benefited from tremendous support at Dufferin Oaks, Headwaters, and at home, from a veritable army of able and compassionate healthcare professionals and caregivers. Her life will be celebrated privately with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimers Society would be welcomed.
