Karl-Heinz Fassnacht, 91, of Nobleton, passed away on June 25, 2023 at his home with family. Karl Heinz was born in Dortmund, Germany on July 6, 1931 to Karl and Johanna (Birk) Fassnacht.
For many years, Karl-Heinz worked for Air Canada as a station attendant. This job paired well with his love of travel: he and his family enjoyed many trips to the tropics as well as back to the fatherland—Germany. Karl-Heinz was actively involved in the local German Club and always appreciated the opportunity to speak German, sing German folk songs, and tell stories. Originally trained as a cobbler, Karl-Heinz enjoyed tinkering and always loved coming up with a new way to use an old item. He was also an early adopter of solar and was an advocate of clean energy. The Fassnachts lived in their Nobleton home for 56 years and Karl-Heinz took great pride in their garden and trees.
Karl-Heinz is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Hildegard (Frech). He is also survived by two sons: Harold and Rachel (Friesen) of Toronto, and Steven and Nicole of Fort Collins, Colorado; three grandchildren: Christian and Lara (Hintelmann), Liam, and Julia; two great-grandchildren: Christina and Sara; and one sister: Gertrude Fassnacht-Fleischmann of Hanau, Germany. He was predeceased by his parents Karl and Johanna, his sister Anni and Kurt Deike, his sister Hannelore and Heinrich Ott, and his daughter-in-law Christina.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday, July 12th from 10 o’clock until time of memorial service in the chapel at 11 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to Diabetes Canada (www.crm2.diabetes.ca).

So sorry to read about Karl’s passing. He was always cheerful despite his disabilities. I remember his solar panels. The new neighbour suddenly built a tall house and blocked the sun’s light to his panels. Karl, understandably, was not amused. I enjoyed chatting with Karl. My condolences to Hilda, who always looked after him so well.
