To the entire Hayward family, our heartfelt condolences from the Papadeas family (former owners of Babalous Cafe & Deli). Keith was quite a character, pretty much every morning ,while he would have his breakfast with the rest of the “Bob Moffat club”, as I would call them. He was the unofficial V.P. of this unofficial club and would often joke that no one at the table had paid their membership fees.
Over the almost 15 years that my family and I owned Babalous, he would often go down memory lane with fond recollections of his late wife (Pat) as well, as those of his children. He often spoke of how proud he was of his grandchildren.
Keith often enjoyed sharing childhood memories of his parents(many of his mother) as well, of his brothers and sisters.
Keith, definately walked to the beat of a different drummer. He was very opinionated and would let you know when he thought you were wrong, but would often lend a helping hand.
It will definately be quieter at Babalous in the mornings and his presence will be void. The peameal bacon & cheddar on a bun with mayo and ketchup (make sure the peameal bacon is well done) which pretty much was his regular a.m. meal, will never be ordered and prepared for Keith again, but he will be missed by us all.
The Babalous family, both past and present thank you for your patronage and for sharing your memories!
May you rest in peace, Diesel Doctor and your memory be eternal.

Our deepest condolences to the Hayward family. May the happy and joyful memories of Keith help you through this time.
Keith will surely be missed at Babalous. He was our first customer of the day everyday. Always waiting in the parking lot until we opened the doors.
May you rest in peace Keith!

Condolences to the entire Hayword Family.. My first recollections of Keith were him near the head of a straggly thin line of about 18 children waking north homeward bound from SS#16. He was with the older pupils including his twin Gordon, Rick and Steve. I was near the back of the column struggling to try to keep up….or picking wild apples or chasing butterflies in the ditch. Keith walked strongly and with purpose past our house another mile to downtown Kilmanaugh probably about 2 1/2 miles each way 2 x day. So mostly I saw the back of Keith in those days because he walked so much faster ahead of my grade 1 legs.
Much later I saw the front of Keith when he allowed me occasionally to help him with tooth problems. He was still the tough but kind, respectful person who moved with purpose . The community will be missing a good man..

So sad to hear of Keith’s passing. He and Gord were the trail blazers of the Hayward family when I was growing up. I will be thinking of all Keith’s brothers and sisters with warm thoughts…
