Passed away suddenly in his 83rd year on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Doreen (Horan); sisters Lois Wells (David), Sharon Prince, and Brenda Gordon (Butch); and brother Rick (Kathy). Predeceased by his loving parents, Dorothy and Wilfred; sister Joan Chapman (Nick); and brothers Ed (Marg) and Wayne (Phyllis). A much-loved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, Ken was a fabulous storyteller known for his quick wit, award winning gardens, a passion for golf, and above all else, the love of family and friends. Ken loved people, and they loved him back. Born in Palgrave, Ontario, as part of a large and exceptionally close family, Ken grew up in Tottenham, and continued his early years in Malton. Over the years Ken loved time spent at his trailer at Musselman Lake, the Weston Golf and Country Club, morning coffees with old friends at McDonalds, and travelling with family and friends including many great memories made in Florida with sister Lois and brother-in-law David. Ken was a noted men’s hairstylist as a partner in Vic’s Men’s Hairstyling on the Queensway for over 50 years. He continued to serve hundreds of customers and friends from his home studio after the business was sold. Many first and last cuts were a part of Ken’s career, and he was always available to visit the homes, hospital rooms and retirement residences of his customers when they were unable to visit him. After retiring from the hairstyling business, Ken went on to work with Doreen in her business, Texcom Shipping, where he made lifelong friends of employees and customers alike. Ken and Doreen finally both retired to their home in Wasaga Beach. Ken will be remembered for his kindness and fierce loyalty to his family and to his large group of friends.
Family and friends will be received at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South, Bolton (905-857-2213) on Tuesday, May 7th from 5 – 8 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday morning, May 8 at 11 o’clock. Following the service all are invited to a reception at the funeral home to celebrate Ken’s life. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I was so sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. I remember he & Doreen so well at Weston G.C.C. & especially at our fun Thurs. evenings with the Mullets group that Ken ran so well. As a former Weston member now living in Peterborough I was saddened by the news; but it sparked so many fun memories of those years. Doreen, I know what it is to lose someone so precious as I lost Marie 5 years ago. So Ken, hit’em straight up there. Heaven has no hazards or penalty areas.
Sincerely Don Lawrence

Sorry to hear of Ken passing, I grew up next door to the Prince family in Malton. I always remembered his big smile and kindness, and his red 66 Pontiac.
