It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to our loving Husband of 60 years to Joan, Father to Brent, Sharon (Stewart) and Susan and Grandpa to many four legged grandchildren on July 14, 2016. We were with him until the very end and we thank the exceptional team of healthcare professionals at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener for making us feel like we were there only family in the hospital. Our hearts are broken but we are at peace knowing that he is no longer in pain.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) in the chapel on Tuesday, July 19 from 2 o’clock until memorial service begins at 3 o’clock.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Canadian Cancer Society and St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation, 911 Queen’s Blvd., Kitchener N2M 1B2 in honour of Leon.

First to Joan, Brent & Sharon and Susan, our hearts are with you at this, your saddest moments.
Leon’s memory will be forever with us. His soft-lovely dry sense of humour, his honesty and interest in each of our lives, his community involvement in Kleinberg , and his years of driving the ill to their docters and medical services. … these and many more fine character traits will be forever etched in our hearts and minds.
Love and our thoughts with you,
The Stanley Clan Downunder

So sorry to hear of the loss of Leon. It doesn’t seem like long ago when we were jumping the fence bordering the Kleinburg properties for one thing or another….birthdays, holiday celebrations or just to visit good friends.
Our thoughts are with all of you.

With fond memories of our past neighbour such as planting vegetables for the Food Bank. Driving for Cancer patients. Planting an evergreen tree on the front lawn at YCC Unit 51, which will always be known as Leon’s Tree. Also the many home visits between adjacent Units to celebrate during the Xmas season.
He will be missed and we are sorry to hear of your loss Joan.
Warm regards, Dolores & David

Marg & I remember Leon for his consideration and dry wit. As a fellow scout leader, I remember Leon, particularly when we hosted SCOPE events, as someone you could count on when help was needed.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Leon for many years when he was Treasurer of the District for Scouting. He was always someone who could be trusted, depended on and whose guidance and opinions I valued.
