We feel so lucky and happy to have enjoyed Leona’s love of life. She has joined Newton to dance again to “String of Pearls”. Leona’s positive attitude, sunny smile and active involvement was a blessing to all who knew her. Born November 11, 1930 in Brampton Ontario to Charles and Margaret Fendley, the youngest of 7 children. Her Mom and Dad owned Fendley Florists and in their greenhouse they developed a new chrysanthemum and named it “Lady Lee” after their little girl. Leona and Blanche graduated from the University of Guelph in June 1950. Newton proposed to her on the same day. Leona and Newton had a dairy farm, raised 3 children and enjoyed many travels together. Leona had a great love of flowers, gardening and was Director of Flowers at the Albion Bolton Fair. She was a devoted member of Salem United Church and the UCW. Family and friends, grandchildren and most recently great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Joyfully remembered by her children Beverley and David, Paul and Gail, Margaret-Anne and Lloyd; 7 grandchildren Ashley and Ryan, Tyler and Jacqueline, Brent, Nicole and Clayton, Justin, George, Victoria and Darryl, and 3 great-grandchildren Clara, Evelyne and Eric

Brenda Mayes
Beverly, Paul & Margaret Anne:
What a beautifully written story about your Mom. Its amazing when Mom and I were reflecting yesterday, how intertwined our families lives were. From the euchre club, meeting monthly for years, snowmobiling here and travelling up north; travelling in Mom & Dads motor home and then your parents got one as well and the miles were put on; my son (also named Lee,) sharing his birthday with your Moms. She would come and pick up dad and take him for a drive to show him something she knew he would appreciate seeing and she bought Dad a new straw hat which he wore proudly. She definitely left a footprint in this family’s life story. Your Moms smile shines on together with her laugh. Rest in peace Lee.
