To Janet Shawn and Shane and Tara, and all the extended Pengelly family. My sincere condolences. Your Grandfather Les Pengelly will be dearly missed. He has certainly left this world a much better place than he found it. He left remembrance inspiration and motivation for all the good he stood for in his service to his family, Community and Country.

Janet and Shawn, Shane and Tara and family: Heart-felt condolences from Maureen and I. Your grandfather was a true gentlemen along with being strong voice and tireless worker for his community and those organizations he embraced such as the Richmond Hill Centennial Pipe Band and the Masonic Lodge. Through the Band, and the many different events he organized, we had the privilege of knowing Les for 30 years. We’re sure that Harry, John, Rodney and others welcomed Les up in heaven with a stirring March so everyone knew a great friend had joined them!
Will Janes, Y.R.P. #189 (retired)
I will always remember Inspector Pengelly sitting in my Father’s old
office, formerly Office Specially, in Newmarket. He would be reading his paper and having his coffee, and as I would go by, he would always look out and say hello. He had a soft voice and was always eager to help new officers. I enjoyed work for Les and will always remember his kindness.
I offer my sincere condolences to his family.

Les had a long time commitment to the Richmond Hill Centennial Pipe Band, Royal Canadian Legion #375, first as Drum Major and second as Band Manager. His contribution to the band’s success and welfare was outstanding and we all valued him as a friend and fellow band member.
Les was always coming up with ideas to improve the band, to challenge us to better performance or to enhance conditions for our practices and parades.
Les will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I was extremely fond of Les as we had a lot in common being Grand Senior Wardens in Masonry — I consider him my mentor — and being involved in pipe bands. The world is a little sadder today.

What a wonderful man…his many years of service both for our country and at the Town of Richmond Hill did not go unnoticed. If more people had his ethics the world would be a better place.
He always had a smile and we had a good laugh when he came to visit the Works Yard…You will be missed Les..:(
My sincere condolences to the family..

Deepest sympathy in your loss. Mary James and myself got to know Les through the trips he used to take from McConaghy Centre – both Mary and I escorted the buses to Rama and Niagara Falls. Les also participated in other trips that ran from McConaghy. He was such a pleasant soul and always a gentlemen. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him at McConaghy.

To the family of Les. My sincere condolences at the loss of your Grandfather and Great Grandfather. I know your loss will become a part of who you are. I know that Les thought the world of you and how you helped him after the loss of your Father. I met Les when we both travelled to Holland a few years ago. I found him to be lively and very modest of his accomplishments. But he bragged of his family. We had a little in common with the our involvement in the Royal Canadian Legion. I will ensure that the next time we do The Act of Rememberance that your Grandfather is remembered. Zone E3 Commander Cathy Connelly.
