Bette was treasured by a huge circle of friends and acquaintances and treasured them in turn, as she did her family. And we all heard about each other, kind stories always….about pals from university days, others met at Scottish country dancing, Spanish class, seniors’ lectures, plays, concerts, tai chi, in her neighbourhood and in her travels. In her 80s still a dauntless and cheerful travel companion, whether braving pyramids and public transport in Mexico or seeing five plays in three days at Stratford.
