It is with great sadness that our loving mother Madeleine Gisele Ross (Laverdière) passed on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and is now reunited with our dad Donald McLeay Ross.
Mom genuinely cared to know people. She made friends everywhere she went. Working at the school was a big part of her life and students all seemed to love her. Even when Mom retired, graduated students would always stop to chat with her while she shopped in many businesses in Bolton.
She leaves behind daughters Jacqueline Adams (Gerard), Margaret Chapman, Heather Caldwell (Don), Lita Scruton (Chris) and son Donald McLeay Ross Jr.; grandchildren Kathleen, Beverly, James (deceased), Dale, Renée, David, Douglas, Nicole, Sam, Amy and 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is survived by her brothers Roger, Raymond and sister Carmen. Predeceased by sisters Diane, Jeaninne, Emily; brothers Rosaire, Jules, Francis (Frank); son-in-law Mike Stevenson. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
We would like to thank all the people who cared for Mom in PeopleCare Communities Meaford, Ontario. Mom will be forever missed by all who came into her life. Special thanks to all of Mom’s friends.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Tuesday, August 6 from 12 o’clock until time of memorial service in the chapel at one o’clock. Interment of cremated remains Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton.

My thoughts go to heather margaret and Donald. I worked with heather and Donald at zehrs. Talked to Margaret her son and daughter. Your mom always had a smile and kept me up to date with all the family. She was a delightful woman. So sorry for your loss. Memories will keep her spirit alive. Cherish them.

Please accept our condolences for my lovely Tante Madeleine. You said it so well, how caring she was and how much people loved her and I couldn’t agree more. When I was a young boy and was able to visit with her she always showed me so much genuine interest as her nephew and I felt important. She touched my heart and I loved my Tante Madeleine. May you rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Madeleine’s passing. She was such a wonderful person. I worked at Zehrs and would chat with her often. She knew I have neck soreness and liked putting ice on it. In the cold weather she would come in with cold hands and come and put her hands on my neck. Thank you, Madeleine. You will be missed by many.

What a lovely lady Mrs. Ross was. I remember her well during my time at Humberview and my earlier days going over to Lita’s. My sympathies to you all with the loss of your very special Mom.

Madeline was a complete joy to work with over the last ten years, at the Stationview building. She was pleasant, curious, funny and always happy to help. Madeline enjoyed the programs and we all truly enjoyed knowing her. We especially loved the stories she told us of her wonderful life. Madeline will be greatly missed.

Aunt Madeline was always smiling, a pleasure to be with, and she will be missed by everyone close to her. My siblings and I have so many fond memories, especially when we were young, getting together with our cousins at Madeline’s home or ours. RIP aunt Madeline, our sincere condolences ❤️

Wayne, Lauren, Connor and I have so many fond memories of Madeleine. Madeleine looked after Lauren and Connor after school for many years when they were in elementary school. Madeleine cared for them, and, our golden retriever Tessa, as if they were her own. Madeleine laughed easily and was full of fun. We will remember Madeleine always. Our deepest condolences to family and friends.

Lita & Donald, my heart was saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. I’ve known her for approximately fifty year and worked with her at The Peel BD. of Ed. for much of that time and again as a volunteer driver with Caledon Community Services where I was one of her drivers. She definitely was a hard worker, very friendly and a pleasure to know. RIP my friend. Allan

Lita and family,
So sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a lovely lady. She was such a kind person and when I think of Humberview your mother is one of many people that comes to mind. That and memories of her hosting your birthday parties when we were kids in Macville.
Sincerest condolences

Sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She was a wonderful lady.
Mrs. Ross and my mom Dorothy, worked together for many years.
I remember my dad would pick them both up after work and drive her home, where she lived on HWY 50.
They shared many laughs and had some good times together.
May she RIP.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Tante Madelaine. I have many fond memories of visiting with the Ross family and her caring sweet nature. I thank her tremendously for the care she provided to my dad as a young child after the tragic loss of their mother. She, who was a child herself, cared for my dad and his siblings. She was an amazing woman.

Our sincerest condolences on the passing of your mother Madelaine. Many fond memories of your mother while both my wife Diane & myself attended Humberview secondary school. She always had a smile on her face and a comforting word which lead to sound advice for young individuals.
When Heather married my good friend Mike Stevenson later on after our school years Madelaine always was a great sounding board in which her advice never swayed. Though the many years have passed and time has a way of separating individuals it always the advice in which we’re given when we’re younger that seems way heavy in our minds and hearts.
Love to all the family.

It was our pleasure to have known Madeleine for the ten years we lived together at 25 Stationview Place in Bolton. She was a very caring, sweet person with a mixture of Scottish and French accents. She was always so friendly and upbeat and her distinctive laugh was heard many times around the building. She also was quick to welcome new comers. We were good friends and had many a laugh together. Our condolences to her family and friends, and especially to her daughters who took such good care of her. They traveled many miles to do so until she moved to Meaford to be nearer her family. She will always bring fond memories to our minds. We are thankful she is at peace now with no more pain.

I am sorry to hear about Aunti’s passing. As kids we spent lots of time together, Heather lots of sleepover’s at your place and Laverdiere family get together with all the cousins. Not sure if it’s just the Laverdiere way, but over at your place Auntie took over as a mom to us, and I mean this in the best way as my mom (Diane) was a great mom. Lots of memories for sure, she will be missed xoxo Janice King (Besco)

When my parents moved to Stationview, Madeleine became their friend and visited often my dad when he became ill, with good words, smile and happiness . She was like part of our family. We loved her, her joy and laugh. My mom misses her friend.
