It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Marie Leona (née Myers ) DeMeis on Friday, December 17th, 2021 in Barrie, Ontario.
Marie was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on May 10th, 1934. She moved with her family to Sudbury, Ontario. Marie was married to our loving father Jim DeMeis for 57 years and had 4 wonderful children, Darlene, Linda, Gail and Anthony. Marie was a hard worker, enjoyed going to her exercise classes, loved watching golf, Blue Jays baseball, hockey and never turned down a game of cards.
Marie was employed with Sudbury Regional Police Services from September 1969 until February 1991. It was at that time, upon retirement, Marie and Jim moved to southern Ontario. They travelled to so many wonderful places and enjoyed the best things in life with many family members and friends alike.
Marie will be greatly missed by her children: Darlene Avram (Danny) of Bolton, Linda MacDonald (Jean Paul Clement) of Sudbury, Gail Proulx (Richard) of Bright’s Grove and Tony Demeis (Carolyn) of Milton. Cherished grandmother of Amanda Liscio, Tina Liscio (Chris Niras), Matthew MacDonald, Áinekaida Laker (Adam), Christine Struthers, Jennifer Demeis and Natalie Demeis (Dan). Fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Bella Laker, Wyatt Laker, Maya Struthers and Bruce Struthers. Also survived by sisters Anita Turgeon of Barrie, Noreen Myers-Bailey of Brampton and brother Spencer Myers (Jadwiga) of Mississauga, her many nieces, nephews and their families as well as Marie’s many wonderful friends.
Mom, you will forever be loved and in our hearts …rest in peace.
There will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Marie’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. Please accept my condolences and know that you are in my thoughts.
It has been said that the goal of life isn’t to live forever, but to create something that will. Marie did just that through her family and friends, for the beautiful memories that she created will continue to live on through them. Memories that will continue to inspire love and laughter for generations to come.
Lots of love,
Andra
