Maurizio (Mo) Roberto Vacca passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at Brampton Civic Hospital on Friday June 18, 2021 at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Susan (Foster), his daughter Jaime Gismondi (Frank) and 2 granddaughters Adrianna and Gabriella, whom he loved dearly. “The girls” as he called them looked forward to every minute they could spend with their “pappa” as he did with them. They loved their walks down to the river, trips to the dollar store and hours at the park, even in minus 10 degree weather.
Maurizio was born in Ceprano, Italy to Luigi and Luisa (predeceased) Vacca and immigrated in the 1950’s to Canada when his mother made the long journey alone with 3 young boys to join their father who had arrived previously. His memory will hold strong in the hearts of his two brothers, Dino (Connie) of Vaughan, ON. and his twin Marcello (Rosa) of Rome, Italy.
Mo was a jack of all trades, he could fix and build anything! He enjoyed puttering around the house in Kleinburg, tending to the gardens, cutting the grass with his tractor and rebuilding the barn in the backyard. When it was done, his wife and daughter always joked that he had plans to move into it. He would spend hours in that barn! He was tough as nails and taught his only daughter some real life skills such as hanging dry wall, hammering a nail without hitting her fingers, how to build a deck, start the snow blower and how not to back into the brick lamp posts at the edge of their long driveway. This very important life hack that came after he got tired of having to rebrick them, something he planned to teach her as well. Maurizio will be fondly remembered by his many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank his home care nurse Jen and Edite NP, for all the wonderful compassionate care and support they provided to Mo and his family.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 o’clock. Please click the link to register a time.
