On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the age of 43, Michael Douglas Bentley passed suddenly at his home in Caledon East.
Beloved husband of Nicole Horzempa; cherished father of Emmet, Harper, and Farrah; devoted son of John and Sharon Bentley; loving brother of Shelly and Greg, Kevin and Kim; cherished and fun loving uncle of Ashley, her husband Matt, Brody, Colton, Sydney, Rylan, Liam; great uncle to Ava and Ledger; and endeared addition to the Horzempa Family; Michael will be missed and fondly remembered by a large extended family of in laws, aunts, uncles and cousins both in Canada and England and by the many friends whose lives he touched deeply.
The Bentley and Horzempa families would like to invite our family and friends to join us as we celebrate Michael’s life on Thursday, November 10th at the Glen Eagle Golf Course. Guests are invited to drop in between the hours of 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm to share stories, many laughs and to simply be together, just the way Michael would want it. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. In keeping with Michael’s spirit we ask our family and friends to dress comfortably and casually.
In lieu of flowers, we gratefully request that donations be redirected to the Go Fund Me page set up in support of his wife Nicole and their three beautiful children Emmet, Harper and Farrah. https://gofund.me/c70a143a

When I heard about Michael I was deeply saddened. I haven’t seen him since he was probably 13 years old. I remember seeing him a lot at his house as I was friends with Kevin.
He was such a happy smiley boy. So polite and always wearing his Bolton hockey jacket.
My deepest condolences to the whole Bentley family and of course his wife and small children.
May he Rest In Peace.

I taught Mike guitar at Music 21 back in the 1990’s. I remember Mike as a talented guitar player and really nice, fun guy. I would run into him throughout the years, and we would catch up. I am in shock. Huge loss. RIP my friend. My deepest condolences to his family

Kevin,
when I heard of your brother Mike’s passing I couldn’t help but remember Mike in Palgrave PS. Specifically I remember telling you your brother was the cutest kid ever with his white blond hair, blue eyes and those long blond lashes. Just a little angel he was back then…..I’m so sorry your family has to lose him so tragically.

I worked for Mike in 2009 for a summer job. I loved the job and working with him. My dad would drop me and my bike off at his place in the morning and I’d drive with Mike into Palgrave. Sometimes he would go out of his way to give me a lift home. Halfway through the summer I got another job related to my field of study that I could not pass up. Even though he had been having a hard time finding folks to work, he was so gracious. Not only that, but on my last day he hands me a huge bonus. A few years later my parents started having him do the grass on their property. In 2014 my wife and I had part of our wedding reception on my parents’ property. No one asked or even hinted, but here Mike shows up at the end of the day on a Friday to manicure the place for the second time that week so it would be in top shape for our wedding the next day. What a guy. Last year we drove by his place, and I saw him out there parking the mowers. I wish we had stopped to say hi. Although I only really crossed paths with him in person for two months 13 years ago, look how much of an impression he had; I think that speaks for itself. As parents of two (soon to be three) we strongly share this sadness with his family; we are praying for you.
