We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Muriel Ailain Maw, age 82 on April 12th, 2021 at Trillium Health Partners due to complications following surgery.
Muriel was born July 1st, 1938 in Kleinburg Ontario to Elmer and Marjorie Mactaggart. She married William Maw on October 18th, 1958, her lifelong love and friend.
Muriel loved her family and the times we could all get together. During these days of Covid 19 she remained positive, reaching out to everyone with a call and a chat.
She enjoyed gardening, trips to Cuba and spending time at The Ranch. She very much missed her black Labrador “Maggie” who shared the same birthday.
Muriel may have been small and mighty, but her feisty spirit earned her the nickname “Rambo” with her family and close friends. She was a force to be reckoned with at times! She often reminded us that “Nice things come in small packages”.
Muriel is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Maw who will miss her always. Also survived by her daughters Kelly Herder (William) and Tracy Laws (Thomas), grandchildren Daniel, Lauren, Drew (Herder) and Ryan and Sean (Laws). Deeply missed by her sister Shirley Davis (Kleinburg), predeceased by her brother Leonard Mactaggart. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Dorothy Simons, nieces, and close friends, especially her dear friend and confidante Colleen Phillips.
Mom enjoyed her garden. Please find a moment to go into your garden, plant a flower and think of her there.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their condolences and acts of kindness during this difficult time. If desired donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the Caledon Animal Shelter.
Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Arrangements by Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. South, Bolton ON. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com.

Bill and Family….so very sorry to hear of Muriel’s passing. My sincere condolences to the whole family. She and I had some good times working at Bolton Florist. I enjoyed working and laughing with her. I would often see her at the ReUse store when she came in to get books or donate them. The last time I saw her was before COVID and we had a quick chat. I will miss that friendly smile and quick wit.

Bill, Kelly, Tracy, we are deeply sorry to hear that Muriel passed away. We always looked forward to her company at the ‘Ranch’. Maria especially enjoyed her insightful, witty, and humorous conversations.
Muriel was a friend of all living creatures, great or small, the sight of a chipmunk, or wild turkey, or deer, or a new flower would make her day. Muriel will always live in our heart and mind. Whenever we walk by the Ranch, we feel her presence, and we find some comfort in recalling the last line of the prayer by the great Francis…and in dying that we are born to eternal life.
