Pearl Kathleen Marengeur (nee Smith), August 12, 1931 – September 3, 2023, predeceased by her loving husband Albert Armand Marengeur, her son Mark and her grandsons Zachery and Gavin.
Pearl and Al married in 1953. They loved to go dancing, camping and spending time with family and friends. When not with Al, Pearl enjoyed bowling, crocheting blankets for her grandchildren and telling a good joke. Together Pearl and Al had five children, Cathryn (Tom), Cary (June), Mark (Cathy), Tim (Paula) and Randy (Heather). Throughout the years Pearl and Al also welcomed many foster children into their home. The family grew over the years and Pearl became a “Nanny” to Gillian (Peter), Cameron (Alysha), Duncan, Zac, Gavin, Cal (Molly), Tessa, Patricia, Brittany (Chris), Colleen, Mike (Lyn), Kyra (Taylor) and Katie (Matthew). As well, Pearl became a great-grandmother to William, Simon, Cade, Bentley, Charlotte, Pierce, Claire, Kristen, and Reese. Pearl has many cousins with whom she kept in touch with throughout her lifetime. Pearl/Nanny will be remembered by her quick wit, love of her family and definitely by her famous “stink eye” that she gave everyone, jokingly.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the Simcoe Manor for the extraordinary care they gave Pearl in her last four months. She loved her short stay at the Simcoe Manor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 24 at 2 p.m. at 16666 Regional Road 50, Palgrave, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, 200 Fletcher Crescent, Alliston L9R 1W7 (transformingstevenson.ca/)
